A popular military enlistment program for immigrants with specialized skills is now stuck in bureaucratic limbo after the Pentagon announced last month it would begin allowing some young immigrants without legal status into the program.
Army officials confirmed Thursday that the program, called Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest, has been suspended while the service tries to finalize screening procedures for the immigrants who want to enlist.
(SNIP) And a new requirement instituted in 2012 mandates that all MAVNI applicants go through a high-level security check, called a single-scope background investigation. But DACA recipients would not be able to pass that test, Stock said.
The MAVNI program is not designed for DACA at all, Stock said. It was rather alarming to see DACAs being put into MAVNI. Someone didnt know what they were doing.

Denham, Coffman and Gardner are big fans of this.
Jeff Duncan did the right thing and pulled support from it. On immigration in South Carolina:
1. Joe Wilson 2. Tim Scott 3. Tom Rice 4. Jeff Duncan 5. Sanford 6. Gowdy aka Trey Gomez 7. Mick Mulvaney aka Mick Menendez 8. Lindsey Grahamnesty
We need more foreign jihadists in the military.
“Someone didnt know what they were doing...”
Or maybe they did know, you can never be sure.
It’s a sad, piss poor country that has to import foreigners to fill its military ranks.
Heh. Now, in our military there are some who openly wear pink slips.
Oh yeah, hire mercenaries.
All we need is to start putting lead back in pipes again and Dark Ages Part II here we come!
They could let then pass through like was done for 0bama.
What’s with this love for immigrants...often illegal alien invaders?
So when are you going to produce some proof of that instead of trolling threads with that claim?
Most citizens don’t have enough of a history to be deemed safe security risks when they first enlist - allowing illegals in would become a security nightmare - Obama wins again...
The Republican is challenging Democratic Sen Mark Udall and has been criticized for not favoring a broader path to citizenship for people living in the country illegally.
For one thing aliens have been allowed to join the military for a long time and become citizens after their service. Secondly, the only possible purpose for undercutting Gardner now would be to get Udall re-elected. You seem to be posting a lot of criticisms of Republican candidates now that the election is less than two weeks away. Slamming Trey Gowdy is most revealing.
Gowdy will not lose the general or ever lose a primary because of his big talk.

” Rather it acknowledges the mutual desire that those who were brought to this country before the age of legal accountability and desire to serve this country in uniform should have an opportunity to do so. “
Gowdy says they aren’t breaking the law.
I don’t think enough CO voters will read my posts and vote for Udall.
Id vote for Gardner and Beauprez( Tancredo will as well) but I would not be shocked if Gardner loses.
Gowdy is right. Foreign nationals have been accepted into the military for a long time.
Gowdy is wrong. They are illegal aliens.
This bill allows immigrants who were brought to the U.S. before the age of 15 and prior to 2011 and to enlist in the Armed Forces. This bill allows individuals who meet the high standards of the military to enlist, fulfill a 5-year commitment, and receive no less than an honorable service designation to be conditionally lawfully admitted to the US for permanent residence. This bill does not confer citizenship.
Yes, Gowdy says the bill does not confer citizenship. Show us where it does if you disagree.
That's a really lame excuse for undercutting a very conservative candidate less than two weeks before the election, in a very close race, with lies about him supporting amnesty.
Id support him but he is not “very conservative”. He is 60 or 70% on some of the better conservative rating sites.
He supports amnesty and if he wins he is be going to be used as an example of why the GOP should pass amnesty to win Colorado. If Gardner wins it will be because of the suburban white women vote not Hispanics.
once admitted for permanent residecny they can go through the process to become citizens....
