The move of most of Mexico’s population to California means Democratic control of the state for the foreseeable future. California is the reason Democrats nation-wide refuse to support border enforcement - they see that illegal immigration means Democratic Party voters.

Jerry Brown’s career rehabilitation began when he was elected mayor of Oakland in 1998. He helped turn around that troubled city by hiring more police officers and capitalizing on the high-tech boom in the San Francisco bay area. Able to offer lower rents than San Francisco or San Jose, he attracted over 20,000 high-tech workers to live in downtown Oakland. (Critics called this “Jerry-frication.”) But there was widespread agreement that he left Oakland in better condition than he found it. Jerry Brown left Oakland with a new reputation for being focused and accomplished.

One more thing, back in 2003 when the ANSWER crowd was staging mini-riots to protest the war in Iraq, the liberals in SF let them run wild, with police ordered to standby. Brown sent in the Oakland PD with tear gas and rubber bullets. I predicted when he was elected that Brown would surprise a lot of the lefties on the Democrat side in ways they wouldn't like. The thing is you never know which Jerry Brown will show up, moonbeam or the pragmatist.
