Missouri prepares for 9th execution of 2014

Missouri is preparing to execute a man who wasn't able to appeal his conviction in federal court because his attorneys missed a filing deadline to do so.

Mark Christeson is scheduled to die at 12:01 a.m. CDT Wednesday for the killing of a woman and her two children in 1998.

Christen was 18 in 1998 when he and his cousin, Jessie Carter, were living about a half-mile from Susan Brouk.

On Feb. 1, the cousins broke into Brouk's home and used shoelaces to tie up her daughter, Arian, 12, and son Kyle, 9.

Christeson raped Brouk in a bedroom. When they went back into the living room, Adrian said Carter's name.

Knowing they were identified, Christeson said, "We've got to get rid of 'em."

The cousins took the family to a nearby pond. Brouk and Kyle were stabbed and thrown into the pond to drown. Adrian suffocated when Christeson pressed on her throat while Carter held her.

That's 16 years longer than this murderer should have been allowed to live.

OK so first I'd execute Christeson and then I'd yank the lawyers license for incompetence in failing to file his appeal on time.

16 long years later....he’s finally getting his punishment.

The “justice” system is a freaking joke.

Ever notice that the same people who get all squeamish over executing a heartless murderer have no problem with supporting the abortion of innocent babies?

Give him a coupon good for 50 percent off on his next appeal.

“wasn’t able to appeal his conviction in federal court because his attorneys missed a filing deadline to do so.”

Oh well. How is that the states’ fault?

So if he was deprived of his right to appeal, then why did it take 16 years to execute him?
