The cooling was predicted at least two years ago by Russian scientist Habibullo Abdussamatov, supervisor of the Astrometria project on the International Space Station and head of space research at the Pulkovo Observatory, St Petersburg. Abdussamatov has predicted that this year will mark the start of a downward trend into a mini ice age, with its nadir in 2055. The cold period would be the fifth mini ice-age to occur in a millennium, suggesting that the climate is following a well-worn natural pattern.

They’re calling it “climate change” now.

But the climate always changes.

What’s different is that they’re blaming it on humankind for having electricity, automobiles, and other modern conveniences rely on or cause the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Problem is, CO2 is a good thing.
Greenhouse is a good thing.

But if you’re a population alarmist, like the AGW fanatics, you need to have some excuse for decreasing the “surplus” population.

Looks like Al Gore made a bad bet.

What he should have done is to put out the word that the increasing CO2 in the atmosphere would cause GLOBAL COOLING. That would have resulted in some minor programming changes to the many climate models and the "climate scientists" would now be making the correct prediction:

The Earth has been going through cycles of 100,000 years of cold interrupted by 10-20,000 year warm periods.

We are beyond the point where the climate has historically flipped back to cold.

Silly Russian, using his model to predict thing before they happen. That’s not how science works. You are supposed to get money from the government, build a consensus, make a wild prediction, fudge the data support your prediction, attack anyone who objects to your fudging the data and then ignore your prediction and claim that any event that does occur proves your theory.

The worst, 10 and 6 meter DX will suck. I remember in the solar maxes of 1979 and 1989, I've had CB radio (11 meters, just below 10 meters) contacts as far as a few thousands of miles. During the Maunder Minimum, it is theorized that daytime communications on the shortwave bands was almost non-existant and only occurs at night on a much lower frequency like 80/75 meters (3500 to 4000 Kc), maybe a little higher perhaps. Unless there is a satellite relay system, if you fly or go by boat on international travel, you'd be on your own. If someone gets sick or you lose an engine as your 707 flies across the oceans, you have to deal with it on your own. Back in the day, there was a requirement that some stewardesses had to me trained as nurses in case if the former happened, you might see that again (or maybe a nurse practitioner) if this happens.

Why do yo say that? Curious what your scientific reasoning is.

As a meteorologist, myself (and many of my cohorts) are fully expecting a period of global cooling due to a decrease in solar activity...much like what happened during LIA.

I've often told people (while debating man-made climate change) that they should only hope for global warming. Mankind has always prospered during global warming periods. When the globe cools....that's when mankind suffers.

The climate changes. It goes from periods of warming to period of little ice ages...and then occasionally a real ice age. We don't want one of those...

Its worse...consider this graph showing over 20% drop in world wide grain productio for a mear 1.2 degree drop in temp.

At least Bill Ayres will be pleased with the resulting drop in population

maybe Ebola will be frozen out....it's so cold that sneezing produces ice chunks.
