How anyone eats at Bob Evan’s is beyond me... I know people must, but their food and service have always been completely sub par... about the only chain worst in that niche that I can think of is Cracker Barrel, who has slightly better food/service but is completely overpriced.

That’s a pretty serious charge that will,IMO,be very difficult to prove...at least to intelligent people, particularly those with scientific training.

Anyone remember the name of the TV news show which criticized Bob Evans for allegedly using downer cattle as a source for their beef?

I like Meatloaf alright. It’s Jim Steinman’s overwrought lyrics that make me sick.

We are being exposed with strains of e coli that we are not used to seeing; our bodies have no resistance and people get sick. Some die. Now where in the world could those foreign strains come from?

Hard to believe they are the only ones to get ill if the food was bad.

This is a classic instance of a story on which posters need to follow the link and read the entirety before posting.

If I'm reading it right, the wife died two months after the food poisoning incident. The husband died 18 months later. Both had several severe pre-existing medical conditions. Neither died of food poisoning; they died of other causes linked to their other conditions. The suit alleges that the food poisoning incident traumatized them and that the emotional distress contributed to their medical downturn. I assume that the lawyer has chosen his venue very carefully. There are some localities in which jurors are notorious for liking this kind of stunt.

As to the food poisoning, contamination does indeed happen due to mishandling in the restaurant, or somewhere else upstream in the chain. If this was the case, one would expect others to have become sick as well. There is no suggestion that this occurred.

Overwhelmingly, however, contamination leading to food poisoning happens at home. Food poisoning is something we mostly do to ourselves. This couple became sick after eating a takeout meal. There may be more evidence than is reported in the story, but based on the story as written, I know where I would place my bets.

“Their takeout dishes “

So they could have left it out for a few hours

Since we started watching a show on Food Network called "Restaurant: Impossible", we hardly ever go out to eat anymore.

I'm surprised hundreds of people don't die every day after eating at a restaurant.

Bob Evans was good in 2005; what happened later is unknown to me. Cracker Barrel is no higher than any other place, is it? It has particularly good tea, catfish, pork chops, green beans, lima beans, quite a few things.

Thank you! I just mentioned this story on the one about “bad apples” and had not found it mentioned yet. Husband brought it up last hour or so.

They ate some meatloaf and took some home in October 2012. She died Dec 2012, he died 2014. How was the meatloaf cared for after leaving the restaurant?
