The Department of Justice's top communications official plotted to squash a reporter who aggressively covered the agency's ill-fated Operation Fast and Furious gun scandal in 2011, previously secret emails show.
The emails, between the DOJ's then-communications chief Tracy Schmaler and White House press flack Eric Schultz, are a rare look inside the Obama administration's press control machine.
They were released Thursday while the nation was preoccupied with President Barack Obama's immigration policy announcement, as the result of a long-languishing Freedom Of Information Act lawsuit filed by the center-right watchdog group Judicial Watch.
In one message, Schmaler told Schultz that CBS journalist Sharyl Attkisson needed to be reined in, writing that she was 'calling Sharryl's [sic] editor and reaching out to Scheiffer. She's out of control.'

And the communists don't like it when THEY aren't in control. Especially when it comes to the 'media'.
..... calling Sharryl’s [sic] editor and reaching out to Scheiffer. She’s out of control.’ ....
Smoking Gun Alert.
“Schmaler hatched her plan a day after Attkisson reported on documents showing Attorney General Eric Holder was sent briefings on the Fast and Furious operation beginning in 2010. That directly contradicted his sworn statements to Congress.”
The Department of Justice’s top communications official plotted to squash....do they mean quash?
Now we know why Holder resigned.
CBS complicit broadcasting service
You're right. Maybe they were thinking of squashing her like a pumpkin. Little humor there.
Document Dump Shows DOJ Worked With White House To Target 'Out of Control' Sharyl Attkisson For Fast and Furious Coverage".....Under a court order, DOJ turned over 42,000 pages of Fast and Furious documentation to Judicial Watch last week. The documentation was held for years under President Obama's claim of executive privilege. Because of the vast amount of information, Judicial Watch is asking the public for help reviewing them and with looking for evidence of wrongdoing and corruption.
There’s a good part about how they were “loading up with leaks” a reporter at National Journal to combat Attkisson.
And Eric Schultz has been made the WH principal deputy press secretary - to fill in when Josh Earnest is gone.
Gee, I wonder what government agency Holder ordered to remotely hack Sharyl’s home computer? No crime there either, huh? Does Holder’s DOJ have a hacking team? I’ll bet it does.
Lots of redacted portions identified as “DP”.
"This story is Qaining traction. You need to stop it from snowballing -- now. Having unnamed sources in the Department defend you is never going to work. I would suggest an immediate on the record pen-and-pad with all regular DOJ reporters (no interlopers who want to agitate) -- and no cameras -- in your conference room. Then you lay it all out showing that this drumbeat from the Right is bullshit."
Unbelievable.
I think that is what the First Amendment is trying do. If the idiots at DOJ don't get that, they are truly in the wrong occupation.
The entire Executive Branch is now a corrupt criminal enterprise. RICO statutes would apply if the rule of law had any meaning anymore.
I heard Attkisson on one of her interviews say what ever it is that they’re covering up (to go to these lengths) must be big (paraphrasing).
Well it seems that a majority of the MSM was, and is, right on board with protecting and covering up for this lawless administration, shredding what little credibility they may have had left, if any. It doesn’t seem to matter, they’re still doing it as I type, and will be doing it tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.
Any one of Obola’s illegal actions would have gotten a republican president impeached, if not sent to prison. Obola has pages and pages of them, and he isn’t finished yet. No one is stopping him.
‘She’s out of control.’
Yes, and by implication, the rest of the old media was ‘in control’.
And why exactly does CBS still enjoy a “Privilege” to broadcast over the “Public Airwaves”??
Are you listening CONGRESS???
