CBS, NBC censor Pope Francis’ call against abortion

In a bold stand for life, Pope Francis called physicians to refrain from performing abortions and euthanasia, even if their jobs call for it. In what many are seeing as the latest example of progressive media’s gross censorship, NBC and CBS cut short the pope’s message...

Pope Francis made his take on the sanctity of human life loud and clear during his address last weekend to Catholic doctors in Italy, asserting that doctors must make the “brave choice” to never administer an abortion or euthanasia — even if doing so is considered an act of civil disobedience.

“To play with life is a sin against the Creator,” Pope Francis proclaimed. “There is no human life more sacred than another: all human life is sacred!”

[snip]

ABC’s Good Morning America showed just nine seconds of the pope’s speech, omitting his denunciation of abortion. ... — along with other declared unethical practices — during his speech.

[Likewise] none of this made it into Ann Curry’s NBC Nightly News Sunday. Rather ...Curry went on to stress "Pope Francis’s [liberal] revolution,” which she says Cupich believes is “just getting started.”

However, the so-called liberal revolution to which Curry was alluding might have been declared over before it began if she mentioned that the Pope rebuked doctors for their roles in embryonic stem cell research, saying they “use human lives as guinea pigs, presumably to save others.”

“The same evaluation applies to euthanasia: we all know that with so many old people, in this culture of waste, there is this hidden euthanasia,” Pope Francis concluded with his own food for thought. “But there is also the other. And this is to say to God, ‘No, I will accomplish the end of life, as I will.’ A sin against God the Creator! Think hard about this.”

Pretty obvious how the EneMedia is spinning things here. They've also never mentioned that he called "gay" "marriage" a demonic deception.

The sad thing is, the only segment of our society that will even notice, is the one being ushered out the door.

The “Press” has chosen sides, and will pay the price.

Obviously the Pope is in damage control as well. Yes he said stuff like abortion isn`t the only thing, I paraphrase from a bad memory, but he has been all over the place on abortion and homosexuality.

They are both sins against God BTW

Oh, dear. The Pope says something profound. Certain freepers will be busy with their foreign dictionaries looking how to spin this!

The Pope needs a better web site. He needs to get his message out directly, on a bypass of the news media. Would it be THAT much trouble to have important speeches available on video, with translation into the main global languages? With copies to youtube? And having the priests tell the congregations about how to get to the pope's speeches?

At least the conference got it on youtube:

Actually he hasn't been "all over the place" on abortion and homosexuality.

He did state that “it was not necessary to talk about these issues all of the time”."

And how right he was about that! You will remember the context of this statement: Pope Francis explained that "The church's pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently."

The key word here is "disjointed." If we try to teach these life-giving principles in a fragmentary way, not showing how they are related to a much larger, holistic vision of the holiness of God--- why then, it's just a bunch of incomprehensible shalt-nots.

And the key, as Pope Francis said --- in that same talk --- "The most important thing is the first proclamation: Jesus Christ has saved you."

If we neglect the proclamation of Christ, people will brush off disjointed "shalt-nots." They must first be drawn to Christ, our Life-giver,our Savior.

IN one of the weekday Gospls from last week, Christ first said to Zacchaeus, "Today I will come and dine with you." AFTER that, Zacchaeus said, "I will give half of my property to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone, I will repay them fourfold." Zacchaeus had to encounter the love of Christ FIRST. Then he was eager, he was joyful to fulfill the requirements of the moral law.

The problem is that he has given the press a lot of bad sound bites, and since what he says one day he frequently contradicts or obfuscates the day after, they can pick and choose.

I think he’s sincere about his pro-life position, but he’s done a lot of damage to his message by making it look as if he regarded pro-life positions simply as one of those things nasty pharisaical orthodox Catholics did. He came out with some silly statements during his press honeymoon, when he was no doubt enchanted by their adulation since they hated BXVI so much, and I hope he can correct them now.

Some RC posters on FR are saying that the press is unfair to this particular pope more than others in the past. Other RC posters indicate Francis is coming off the rails.

Facts seem difficult to nail down by reading these posts on FR. Care to offer your observation?

You are so right. The media is in general public enemy #1. I think they are even more dangerous than Obola.

Absolutely right!
Today we have not only drive-by media, but drive-by readers and listeners as well who don’t read behind the headlines supplied by the drive-by media.
