Bill Cassidy defeats Mary Landrieu in Louisiana runoff

BATON ROUGE, La. | Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy handily defeated Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu, denying her a fourth term and extending the GOP’s domination of the 2014 midterm elections that put Republicans in charge of Capitol Hill for the final two years of President Obama’s tenure.

With Mr. Cassidy’s victory, the GOP will hold 54 seats when the Senate convenes in January, nine more than they have now.

Republican victories in two Louisiana House districts Saturday — including the seat Cassidy now holds — ensure at least 246 seats, compared to 188 for Democrats, the largest GOP advantage since the Truman administration after World War II. An Arizona recount leaves one race still outstanding.

It looks like she may not reach Senator Rick Santorum territory.

She probably won’t reach his 17.4% loss margin.

In the South, Democrats will be left without a single governor or U.S. senator across nine states stretching from the Carolinas to Texas. The House delegations from the same region are divided almost entirely by race, with white Republicans representing majority-white districts, while majority non-white districts are represented by black or Hispanic Democrats.

Correct me if I’m wrong. but many here said she’d cheat her way to victory.

She still has 28 days to screw us over.

After running away from ObamaCare, she seemed to say she was ready to expend it in her “concession” speech.

“But when asked who would be to blame should she lose on Saturday to Cassidy, Landrieu is quick to say responsibility rests on her shoulders.

“I would imagine that people just didn’t think that I didn’t work hard enough or deliver more for the state and they decided to elect someone that they thought would be better,” Landrieu told Fox News.”

so she has no idea why people didn’t vote for her.

Cassidy leads 56.76%-43.24% with 3932 of 4018 precincts reporting. 84 of the 86 still to be reported 100% are on Orleans parish.

I am against animal abuse, but I'll concur in the case of this troglodite.

Democrats will be out in force on the Sunday morning news programs to blather endlessly on how this strategic loss further "strengthens" other Democrats across the country. Blah, blah, blah.

From the talk I’m hearing about amnesty and the budget, this additional seat won’t even matter. The republicans seem determined to play nicey nice with Obama even though the voters are clearly expecting some firmness.
