All this leaves me wondering.. any chance to pick up more seats in 2016?
Mrs. Landrieus (married name?) defeat is a blow for one of Louisianas most famous (and inbred) political families, leaving her brother, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu(same last name as his married sister), to carry the banner.
She was there for 3 terms.
Mrs. Frank Snellings.
Do politicians even care whether they win or lose? The system is set up so that they’ll get cushy jobs courtesy of their donors after office anyway.
Ta Ta Mary.
if they d nothng, like they seem to be telegraphing, they will be the ones with seats to lose. not b/c people want dems but if they’r not goin to fix wht we sent them there to do they will not get people motivated enough to vote like this time.
2016 is MCCAIN II / ROMNEY II if they don’t fix stuff and just want to try to coast the next two years. and at this point the rino/gop- leadership is in full coast mode.
He coasted for the last leg - she did his job for him. (The possible meaning of your question gave me images that are better left in the shadows - had to defuse before the night terrors hit...).
Send her a roll of TUMS.
MARY F'IN LOST!!!!!
There, I feel so much better now.
RE: Correct me if Im wrong. but many here said shed cheat her way to victory.
That would generally work if:
1) There is a third party spoiler (e.g. Libertarian) that siphons votes away from the Republican and the results are very close.
2) The results are very close even without a third party candidate.
Cassidy’s win is so huge that no amount of cheating could overcome it.
Hence, Cheating was effective in places like Virginia ( and in Al Franken’s case previously, Minnesota ).
YAY! Buh-bye, Miss Piggy!
you can call me mary landrieu long befor i’ll let you call me mrs frank snellings lolol
She did try to cheat her way to victory. She failed. 1) Yes, we had a 'third party spoiler'. His name was Maness. So why did he not work for her? a) He worked well for her in the primaries. She would have lost election day if Maness would have dropped out of the race. b) The Republican party of Louisiana broke 'tradition' and ENDORSED ONE REPUBLICAN OVER ANOTHER (alleged) REPUBLICAN. They took a lot of flack for that, but the problem is that there is simply not enough time to rally round a candidate in the 3-4 weeks after the primary. Without this early endorsement and backing of Cassidy, the third party play would have worked. c) UNITY RALLY. After Maness defeat, a number of prominent Republicans - led by Woody Jenkins (the candidate that Landrieu had cheated out of a seat when she first got elected 18 years ago) - managed to get the two factions to declare UNITY and unite against Landrieu. 2) VILE FRAUD ATTACK Their final attack was vile allegation of fraud against Bill Cassidy. a) They initiated this attack through a democrat blogger who obtained Bill Cassidy's work records from LSU. b) Based on his attack, the charges were then repeated in the New Orleans paper the Times Picayune and all other liberal outlets. c) In addition, the TP endorsed Mary Landrieu and were running repeated attack articles on the Louisiana Republicans in general and Cassidy in particular. d) The Democrat party and one other liberal group (American Democracy Legal Fund) even filed highly trumpeted ethics complaints with the U.S. Legislature. 3) Plenty of other stuff... SO SHE DID TRY REPEATEDLY TO CHEAT HER WAY TO VICTORY.
I would have rather had Robert Maness than Cassidy.
He was the TRUE conservative and not a Republican.
