As an aside, pot, when heavily used, creates a kind of bipolar disorder in users.

It may be safe for some but it is poison for many.

As America gets hooked on pot, watch for the pendulum to swing back to the more conservative side.

That said, I am all for the legalization of pot. The law is not the way to stop it.

Common sense is the best and cheapest weapon.

I don’t think this is a big danger. Most people have already tried pot in their youth and decided whether they like to use it or not. I think the majority still won’t like to use it, even if it was as legal and available as booze.

I do think you see a “bump” in usage after decriminalization, as some people who haven’t done it for years will try it again just on a lark, and others who only do it occasionally because of legal fears start using more regularly. Still, I think we are only going to see a very small long-term change in the stats.
