John Hancock considering run for chairman of the Missouri GOP (against Cochran nemesis)

From 1997 to 2004, Republican political strategist John Hancock was the executive director of the Missouri Republican Party. A decade after leaving that full-time role, Hancock is considering a return to the organization.

This time, he wants to be chairman.

Early last month, Republicans supporting Hancock’s candidacy began informally polling members of the Missouri Republican State Committee about the possibility of a run and even challenging the incumbent chairman, Ed Martin. Their findings were apparently positive, as Hancock has quietly began personally working members of the state committee.

Ed Martin is the only person in the GOP who has attacked amnesty, black rioting and Haley Barbour from the start.

He even called out the incompetence of the democrat Mayor and others immediately on the front foot.

I think this supposed to be Mississippi and not Missouri.

It is Missouri.

Mafia looking thug Joe Nosef is the Mississippi GOP chair.

Missouri has a strong conservative majority in the Republican party at the State level. It does lack some ready for prime time members and it has cost us for national office.

Curious why you added (against Cochran nemesis)?

John Hancock helped John Brunner trash Sarah Steelman in the Primary. Steelman was arguably, the only candidate that could have defeated Mother McCaskill. They took everyone's eyes off the prize. As a result of this in-fighting, Todd Akin emerged the winner. Ultimately crapping in his own foxhole and costing us the Senate Seat.

Beware the StL Country Club "Republicans." They fought against CCW. Against Right to Work Laws, as recently as last year. And I suspect they will fight against it next month when conservatives plan on introducing it again.

I trust them not...

Afraid so. After she got trashed by her own Party I don’t blame her. Were it not for the StL crowd, we would have a NRA/GOA-backed, pro-tax reform conservative Republican in the Senate instead of Ma McCaskill...

Don’t overlook the SW Missouri Republicans who refused to vote to reelect Jim Talent.

Talent tossed in the towel long before he stood for election. I went to a large gathering of gun-owners, Second Amendment supporters and Talent was a no-show. This was 10 days or so prior to his election. Yet, everyone I know, voted for him. Just because the consequences of not voting for him were so horrific.

Incumbent conservative Ed Martin is the only state chair who has said anything about Cochran’s antics.

The Alabama SoS said he wants closed primaries but that wasn’t, as much as a dig, as Martin trying to censure Henry Barbour.

Reince Priebus wants to get rid of Ed Martin as well.

Akin won because he was the most conservative even if he supported earmarks.

I actually credit Todd Akin with distracting the GOPE to focus more on white women instead of only on hispanics with amnesty.

Im glad he refused to do a backroom deal to let RINO Ann Wagner turn into the next Kelly Ayotte.

It is not McCaskill or Akin’s fault McConnell and Ayotte voted for to fund amnesty.

If Akin were there he would clearly not care what the media says about standing with Cruz and Steve King pissing off the RINOs.

People wonder why Huckabee thinks he still has a chance. The GOPE are convinced that abortion is a bigger problem than their reputation amongst poor people.

When was the last time an establishment backed woman went to congress and acted conservative?

There’s Bachmann, Cynthia Lummis and maybe Marsha Blackburn with okay voting records.

Sarah Steelman did much more than act conservative. She was conservative. Akin had no chance of getting elected. I ultimately $upported him after he got the nomination and even after he stepped in it. But Steelman could have beaten Mother McCaskill, hands down.

The StL country club Republicans conjured up Brunner for the sole purpose of defeating Steelman in the Primary. Mission accomplished. They hated Steelman. Pro-Second Amendment. Anti-taxer. Pro-RTW,etc.

I have no problem with Ed Martin. But if John Hancock is after his job, then he needs to be careful....
