President Barack Obama has wisely chosen to ignore bipartisan bleating over the lawful use of his executive authority to address pressing issues long championed by the so-called professional left. He has instead decided to flex his muscle, at long last.

He struck a deal with China to reduce greenhouse gases by 30 percent over the coming years, pushed for regulating the Internet as a public utility, raised the minimum wage of workers employed by companies with federal contracts, created gender equity rules for such employees and protected from deportation as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants. Also, his Environmental Protection Agency is set to enforce new ozone standards generally, as well as new carbon limits specifically for 600 coal-fire electricity plants.

To all that, I say hallelujah.

Eighty people die every day in gun-related deaths, according to one study. The annual total of deaths will surpass vehicular deaths sometime next year.

On average, less than 500 people are killed with a rifle each year in the US. More people (substantially more) are killed with a hammer each year.

The Liberals want to ban rifles.
They talk about "gun deaths".
They display scary statistics which include pistol deaths (including suicides).

Liberals don't try to ban pistols, because they know that this is a political dead-end. They focus on rifles which is politically more salable, but ultimately rather pointless. The whole gun ban concept is based on dishonesty pushed by people who want to feel good about themselves.

Speaking of massacring children, let's not forget about President Barack Obama’s promotion of late term partial birth abortion and his insistence of allowing no medical care for those children that survive. He promotes allowing those children to suffocate or starve to death on their own.
