I know exactly what you mean, Betty, I’m sick of the “Holiday”-only commercials myself.
The local radio station plays messages from military families to their friends and relatives back home. Every one says “Happy Holidays”. Since that isn’t how normal people speak, I have to assume they have been ordered to use the phrase.
