Today Barack Obama normalized relations with Communist Cuba.
The president said the current policies were not working.

Castro already is making demands from the US.

The blockade must cease.

Raúl Castro: Diplomatic relations will be restored, but the economic blockade should be stopped.

Castro also gave a speech today in response to the announcement.

Obama is gonna do it.
He's going to normalize relations with Cuba and end the embargo.
I bet he will even apologize to Castro at some point.
This will be a gift to all his Communist peers.
His family, his professors, his friends.... This will be another milestone in his mission to prove the America of the Cold War is dead.
He can put this trophy right next to the one he got for castrating NASA.

Two more years...

The embargo on Cuba makes no sense; hasn’t for many years. We have normalized relations with lots of countries that aren’t nice to their own people: normal relations are probably the best way of gaining some moral leverage. Anyway, Cuba’s no threat to the USA.

How many countries have stolen US assets without so much as paying back a dime?

The U.S. hasn’t blockaded Cuba since 1962.

Communism was unlikely to outlast the Castro boys without an infusion of cash and it looks like they’re going to get it. It didn’t take long for Obama to talk about freeing Cubans in this country to send remittances back.

I remember crouching under schoolroom desks during bomb drills throughout the Cuban missile crisis and for several years afterwards. My burning hatred for Khrushchev and the Castro brothers has not abated. NO WAY that relations should be normalized with Cuba while that unrepentant generation of hardcare Marxists are still alive. May they and the imposter in chief burn in Hell together.

Maybe that’s because some of them really are communists who want to destroy our country.

Fidel Castro, Che, and Raul captured US citizen business owners in Cuba, put them on trial, then had them put against a wall and shot. I remember that some of the Coca Cola representatives were put to death for their “illegal” activities in Cuba. Fidel was directly responsible.

It isn’t their own people we were mad about, it was their treatment of our people once they took charge.

Well, sort of like the idea behind stopping “pre-crime,” you cannot REALLY read minds. To the extent you can understand someone else’s mind/intent, it MUST be done by hearing their side of things, NOT by assuming the worst just because you hate their past.

It is enough to take things as they actually are.

Fine, just as soon as they return all of the land and buildings illegally stolen from American businesses and individuals when Castro took over (this includes basically all of the hotels and oceanfront property on the island) AND they need to also compensate for the property destroyed, innocent Americans murdered and money stolen, all of which needs to be repaid with interest.
