Cuban President Raul Castro said in a nationally broadcast speech that he welcomes the restoration of relations with the United States.

He said differences remain between Cuba and the U.S. in areas such as human rights, foreign policy and questions of sovereignty, but he says the countries have to learn to live with their differences "in a civilized manner."

Money quote:

The Cuban leader then called on President Obama to use his executive power to “remove the obstacles” that restrict the ties between the two countries and address the issues related to travel, direct postal service and telecommunication.

Takes one to know one. What is so funny is how the example of the embargo of Cuba destroyed a favorite Leftist political-economic theory from the 60s/70s; Dependency Theory. The proponents argued the economic relationship between the First World and Third World was fundamentally exploitative in favor of the First World. So when the US imposed the embargo on Cube according to these people that did Cuba a huge favor by no longer being exploited by the US. We all know how that turned out and I laugh when Commies going back to Fidel have called for the boycott to end. Fidel and company basically said Dependency Theory is crap.

Obama is going to do as much damage as he can before he leaves office.

Are we negotiating to become a “Worker’s Paradise”?

We might be a little to far to the Left for Cuba at this point...

Cuba to be the 58th State?

Remember back in 2008 and those Che posters hanging in some 0bama campaign offices?
And the occasional Che T-shirt on 0bama campaign workers?

The circle is now complete.

OBAMA EMBRACE THE CUBAN GENOCIDE
A Marxist leaning Pope blessed the Marxist American president embrace of Castro’s genocide communist regime condemning the Cuban enslaved people to eternal damnation. On the deal Castro liberated an American illegally imprisoned in Cuba in exchange for the freedom of three Cuban spies serving prison terms in U.S. and the normalization of relations with a country that occupied for decades a top position in the list of the State Department ‘s terrorist countries. The Cuban regime tried to obliterate New York and Washington with a nuclear attack during the October Missile Crisis of 1962. In November 192, the Castro brothers’ and Che Guevara’s agents had targeted Macy’s, Gimbels, Bloomingdales, and Manhattan’s Grand Central Station with a dozen incendiary devices and 500 kilos of TNT. The Holocaust was set for detonation the following week, on the day after Thanksgiving.

To complete Obama’s betrayal of the American people, with the normalization of relations comes the opening to Cuba of the American and International bank credits that will sustain the Cuban regimen passing to the American taxpayers the same heavy burden that helped to bankrupt the Soviet Union.

This is going to piss Putin off beyond words. I am SURE he was planning on diverting Russia’s mind off his toilet economy AND aggravate the USA by creating a diversionary diplomatic emergency through his ties in Cuber.

Raul was just unfriended by Vlad.

Are we negotiating to become a “Worker’s Paradise”?

I've heard that term before somewhere. Isn't a "worker's paradise" a place that has no jobs?

If I remember correctly, Obama said something to the effect of “...all 57 other states.” The one he was in made 58. Thus your idea is correct, and quite humorous, but I think it should be 59th.

What a hoot at any rate...

Check this out.

He’s visited 57 states, only has one to go.

Then he admits he hasn’t been to Alaska or Hawaii.

So you’ve got grounds to say he believes there are 58 or 59 states.

Simply amazing.

You are of course correct.

I was going with the more common meme instead of the exact quote.

* I've heard that term before somewhere. Isn't a “worker's paradise” a place that has no jobs? *

If you're in a communist country in the Caribbean you sit around in the sun and drink rum all day...it doesn't sound as bad as a Worker's Paradise in most other places, you sit under a grey sky freezing and drinking vodka...

...perhaps the Soviet Communists courted Cuba to join them as a PR stunt...

All the rats are.
They want now normal relations with these murdering commies and have an embassy there.

The left saw the election and know their time is near so they are going all out to destroy this country and it’s laws.

Thanks for the response. Many folks do, and I think that is fitting with the popularly accepted “57”.

Take care.

Certainly.

Usually I try to be precise when I’m trying to make a post with actual substance, but sometimes it is easier to just go with a meme, especially when I’m just snarking.
