While I don’t believe she’s ever going to meaningfully wake up, I wouldn’t be so quick to be sure that’s decomposition.
There are a couple of minor, harmless skin disorders which can cause unsightly pigmentation issues in blacks. I have a dear friend who has one of those conditions and it looks rather similar.
