We've all seen hospital bills where the "sticker" price was whittled down to a fraction of the original bill by the insurer. Uninsured emergency visitors don't have that advantage. (They say generally billed, not generally paid so there is still plenty of room for this to go completely awry.)

Uninsured emergency visitors don't have that advantage. You can still negotiate the bill down. Or hire a patient advocate.
