The check point might also be to catch a criminal. Maybe you look like him. If you stutter on one word, or even if they just “think” you did, they can search your car. What if they are looking for someone who just killed a child, and your daughter’s shoes are in the back seat? You might be hauled in for a while. I like this technique.
