In Oklahoma, Wearing Your Hoodie In Public Could Soon Bring A $500 Fine
The Inquisitr ^ | January 3, 2015

An Oklahoma lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make wearing a hoodie — the popular cold-weather garment that protects your face and head from the elements — a crime punishable by a fine of up to $500, KFOR (Oklahoma City) is reporting.

Ostensibly, the proposed hoodie ban is meant to make Oklahoma safer from people who would conceal their identity, but civil liberties groups argue the ban is little more than another means of racial profiling.

“Pull up and stare at them”.

LOL,,thanks for not being so stupid as to think that bothers actual bad guys in the slightest. Especially hidden under a hood.

We have a boat in Ventura Ca. As soon as the sun goes down it gets cold and damp. Anyone you see around the marina after dark either has a sweatshirt with a hoodie on or a knit cap.
Fricken idiots everywhere.

We had snow in the Bullhead City AZ area 3 days ago. And it covered palm trees.

Not sure how stupid one has to be to propose this madness, but it isn’t as stupid as someone that would support it. That takes special intelligence.

You want EXTRA CREDIT for using a Nazi reference?

You have no clue what murdering 6 million Jewish people in oven and gas houses mean.

Go put on a hoodie and see if its anything you may understand about boarding a socialist train to your ultimate demise in a gas chamber.

Keep biting this dog.

They could legally ban hoodies, as long as they phrased it as something generic, like non-religious head coverings, working off the old anti-KKK mask laws. And enhance penalties for committing any crime while wearing such a head covering.

The most recent US Supreme Court rejection of a challenge to a mask law, was once again from the KKK, in New York in 2004.

Though in past, Texas used to have an anti-mask law, at some point they rescinded the law. No reason to not bring it back, phrased in such a way as to include hoodies.

That is, Oklahoma, not Texas.

You have never met a whiter, 65 year-old white guy than me. I make Jonnie Winters look swarthy and I wear a hoodie, a fleece lined Eddie Bauer hoodie, true but a hoodie.

This is a situation of not biting off more than you can chew. If you want to limit hoodies, fine. That is one argument. But if you want to restrict the public wearing of a hijab (I think it’s called that), then you are getting into a huge brawl in federal court, and you will probably lose right now.

So don’t try to combine everything in the same law. If you want to restrict hijabs apart from the hoodie restrictions, fine. The hoodie restriction might survive scrutiny. But if both are in there, you probably lose both.

Not sure why you ‘feel’ that you have the right to tell me what to wear. You want to remove the comfort of over 90% of the population because you’re scared of several percent?

Thats Orwell level insanity. And IF you are going to restrict things based on feelings, because lets face it, geriatrics in hoodies arent jacking cars, then the Hajib/burka should be first to go. they offend almost all non muslims. And they are a symbol of slavery and oppression.

I didn’t say never, just not in my area, and before the Civil Rights 1965 maybe some in certain areas, but we aren’t MS, AL, or LA.

The lawmaker who came up with this stupidity should be removed from office immediately. What a maroon!

Simply outlaw youth itself. Hunt them like animals. That will show them.

It looks like he has two years remaining in his third and final term.

How about just requiring everyone to wear a barcode on the front and back of their shirts for identification purposes?

I’d prefer my forehead.

Here you go.
