If anyones to blame for the execution-style murder of a dozen people at a French satirical magazine, the Catholic Leagues president says its the paper's slain publisher.
In a stunning article titled Muslims Are Right to be Angry, Bill Donohue blasted Charlie Hebdos intolerance for repeatedly depicting and insulting religious figures which he said provoked Wednesday's mass shooting at their Paris office.
Donohue, whose New York City-based conservative organization is not part of the Catholic Church, said it is too bad that Charlie Hebdos editor, Stephane Charbonnier, didn't understand the role he played in his tragic death.

For a guy named Bill he’s a Dick....
Yes. Well, blaming the innocent victims is unseemly of Donahue. Perhaps he needs to retire while his legacy is not yet tarnished by any more such senile remarks
This guy does not speak for all Catholics. And neither does Francis..
Donohue throughout his public life has fought mostly the good fight and has spoken truth to power. Today he made a bad error and will need to apologize or revise his statement. His point is that these irreverent cartoonists and editors really do anger people when they mock their passionate personal beliefs. However Bill needs to make it clear that however irritating and moronic they may be, they have an absolute right to speak and act that way. People can criticize them and not buy their products but absolutely no one has the right to harm them.
Angry and slaughter are two different things.
Everyone has the right to be angry, but this guy is excusing murder.
geez what a goober
man....
so Hebdo picking on Catholics made him guilty enough to let Muzzies slaughter him
how many Catholics over the centuries have muzzies murdered Bill?
millions possibly...millions for sure counting Coptics and Eastern
you jackass idiot
Catholics should demand he quit
i guess if Cuomo can have a state funeral in a gorgeous cathedral
no repercussions..ever
Heck, lets make this easy. You hate every other religion except what you believe in. Am I wrong?
Kinda makes you sound like a,,,,ah,,, let me think, Muslim?
Best Pope in history. Your Catholic bashing is tiring.
They did go after Catholics, probably even moreso than Muslims.
So? My faith isn’t going to shaken because of them.
Muslims need to get over it.
“Best Pope in history.”
Are you joking? If not, you should be. This Pope is going to be in the Jimmy Carter category before his term is up.
We shall see. Pope’s don’t have terms. And to compare to an American is weird. Totally different things. Talk about comparing apples and oranges......BTW, how are you? Haven’t seen you lately. Hope all is well.
This is a pure mindreading post...against forum rules
Good point
Donohue’s done a lot of good things thru the years in taking on secularists...but with this...it shows it’s past time for him to retire...if catholics refuse to help him see this, they are part of this donohue messaging problem
Right. Why didn’t Charlie Hebdo learn their lesson when those Catholics killed six of their cartoonists last year?
Ughhhhh. No. Wrong.
Actuall, Francis does. It's the way the system is designed.
Muslims are right to be offended. I’m offended by much of what passes for art and particularly when my tax dollars are used to fund today’s art. However, that sense of being offended in no way justifies mass murder. This concept should not be hard, not even for liberals.
Donohue is wrong on this; yes, the magazine is offensive, but so what? It doesn’t receive state funds, it’s not a statement of official policy, and it also attacks everything and everyone in the universe (not only religions, but politicians, movements, etc.).
Speaking of the Pope, btw, I’m afraid Donohue actually is in line with him. He made a statement “deploring all homicidal violence” yesterday, and today a more or less official Vatican publication came out with a statement that the “homicide” (note that they don’t call it “terrorism”) does not “legitimize the blasphemy against the religion of millions of people” (referring to Islam, of course).
I was worried yesterday when the Pope made a sort of Obamaesque statement about “violence” and the Vatican said there’d be a further statement later from him ...and once again it was simply a statement that “homicidal violence” was never appropriate and that it was necessary to work for “respect between the peoples and cultures.” Diversity is our strength, I guess.
This Pope adores Islam and has been notable for his weak support for the Middle Eastern churches, which he limits to an occasional statement lamenting “homicidal violence” and assuring these poor people that he is praying for them.
