But without the Ransom Stoddards, the Tom Donovans of the world would do nothing. Tom Donovan was Liberty’s match in every way, but he had lived in the region for years without standing up to him, just occasionally making hostile noises at him. He did it for Rans Stoddard and his quixotic belief in the magic of law, and despite the fact that by not allowing Liberty to kill Rans, he had lost the girl. And he did it because he admired Rans’ courage.
Would Tom Donovan have fought Daesh, had he believed that afterwards French “statesmen” (Applegate in our analogy) would sit down and negotiate a piece with the terrorists?
Will the Tom Donovans of France take the individual risk in order to continue the current policies of the nation?
Not sure what you are talking about. Restrictive ROE are putting our soldiers at risk along with homosexualizing same to destroy morale.
One of the effects of so many Republicans signing the Norquist tax pledges was the “sequester”. This has resulted in across the board cuts to military expenses, with no possible discretion to cut programs or procurements that made less sense. Also troop cuts across the board rather than cutting some types but increasing others such as special type forces so necessary for “assymetric warfare,” and the WOT. My son has served in both the 82nd and Special Forces (Gulf War I and two tours Afghanistan), so I hear about it. I haven’t asked him, but he also has not volunteered any thoughts one way or the other about don’t ask, don’t tell or subsequent changes.
