Pueblo City Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki submitted her resignation letter to City Manager Sam Azad Tuesday (1/13/15).
Nawrocki said she's calling it quits after 2 1/2 years on City Council because the recall election is hurting her family.
...
Nawrocki became the target of a recall last year after she was accused of breaking state law by keeping the public out of the loop when she discussed public business over email.
Former council members Sandy Daff and Chris Kaufman resigned after facing the same accusations.
...
City Clerk Gina Dutcher estimates the recall will cost city taxpayers between $35,000-$50,000. That expense would have been avoided if Nawrocki had resigned last year, but she said she has no regrets about not resigning sooner.
...
Frank and Becky Cortese, co-owners of C& C disposal, a trash company, are leading the recall effort. In a statement, Becky Cortese said, "Frank and I are very pleased but surprised by Ami Nawrocki's resignation this close to the election. The fact that she would still cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars for the recall election and then resign, speaks volumes about her character."
Mail ballots will be sent out on Wednesday. The first question on the ballot asking whether Nawrocki should resign will no longer count. The only question that will be counted is which of the two replacement candidates, Eric Medina or Bob Schilling, should replace Nawrocki.

Good start

It’s not like it is HER money being spent, so who cares!!
Doncha just love Democrats?
I’m a bit surprised she didn’t claim that her family was receiving death threats.
