A rapper who shared a photo of Malia Obama on social media joked in an interview that the White House might be tapping his phone.

Joey Bada$$, who is a member of the Brooklyn-based group, discussed the photo on New York radio station Hot 97 in an interview posted Friday.

"What's so special about this girl in this shirt?" the hip-hop artist said on the station's "Ebro in the Morning" show, recalling when he first saw the photo. "I didn't know who it was. The picture wasn't the clearest quality."

The Pro Era member said as soon as he read the comments and realized the girl in the picture was Malia, he wasted no time re-posting the photo.

"It was crazy," he said, noting he was in Australia at the time.

The apparent photo of the 16-year-old Obama sporting a white T-shirt with the red and green logo of the rap collective Pro Era was posted on the Instagram account of one of the group's members early this month.

Bada$$ joked that the White House has taken an interest in him since the Malia photo took off online.

"They got my phone lines tapped," he said.

"But it's all good, my mom voted for Obama," the recording artist added. "I'm good, I'm Gucci."

After the photo surfaced, Pro Era moved to post it on its own Instagram account to promote its merchandise.

Bradley Bledsoe, a spokesman for the group, told the Associated Press that "the group received the photo from a mutual friend of Pro Era and Malia," adding "the photo is real."

Some of the Pro Era lyrics little Sharia listens to in her room in the White House...

You niggas is suspect and I'm just a roughneck
That wasn't breakin' pencil tips when I would bust lead
I puff meds and leave chumps fed and punks dead
Her c*nt wet she gettin' rough sex no Sunset
I like a chick with' a buck tooth yeah it could get f*cked too
I keep my eye they sus' too
Never tell 'em our goverment
Make any covenants
Bitches be lovin' it
See not to put a glove on it
Funny shit, you must've thought
I was a dumby miss
I feed lies to felines
Just to get up any time he's quick
Ye you got tricks but I got 5 more
So any game you trying to play you better
Know, I got the high score
You better settle down 'cause you not on my level now
The pro's is in my circle
They could tell the world you get around
Some niggas clowns what this shit about
They used to doubt now they see 'em sprout
And I'm out

Maybe our gracious and glamorous first lady would like to read some of these lyrics during her next appearance on Letterman...

I despise what rap has become. It used to be good stuff that wasn’t x rated.

"It used to be good stuff that wasn’t x rated."

I've never heard anyone say that. It always seemed tasteless and talentless to me.

I’m sure there are some who say that about modern music too.

Not sure what modern music is but I've heard a couple of rap songs (if that's what they're called) and fully agree with the sentiment that; "Rap is to music as Etch-A-Sketch is to art."

That is a picture of the EXACT OPPOSITE of that which made America a great nation. The fact that these are members of the first family is truly disgusting.
