Ali alMarri was involved in much more than the gov has let on.

If I remember right the gov took a very keen interest in a trunk he brought with him on his return to the US before 9/11.

An embattled former Obama administration appointee -- who was part of a group of attorneys accused of being terrorist sympathizers for defending "enemy combatants" -- has been hired for a post at the US Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, officials confirmed today. Tali Farhadian was one of several private attorneys who created a rift between Republicans last spring when the Obama Administration assigned them to posts within the Justice Department. ...Farhadian, 35, served as counsel to Holder until her departure in June. Before joining Holder's office, Farhadian worked on a team at a law firm that wrote legal briefs for two organizations, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights First, which were representing Ali Saleh Kahlah Al-Marri. The Qatari student, who had been designated an enemy combatant, was to stand trial later on fraud charges in Illinois.... ----------------- 'Qaeda 7' attorney gets NYC job: Fed prosecutor gig ('Terrorist sympathizer') The New York Post ^ | January 8, 2011 | Michael Maddux http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2654019/posts Posted on ‎1‎/‎9‎/‎2011‎ ‎7‎:‎12‎:‎40‎ ‎PM by 2ndDivisionVet

Covertly taken photos of CIA interrogators that were shown by defense attorneys to al Qaeda inmates at the Guantanamo Bay prison represent a more serious security breach than the 2003 outing of CIA officer Valerie Plame, the agency’s former general counsel said Wednesday.

John Rizzo, who was the agency’s top attorney until December, said in an interview that he initially requested the Justice Department and CIA investigation into the compromise of CIA interrogators’ identities after photographs of the officers were found in the cell of one al Qaeda terrorist in Cuba. ...

Second wave plot: [snip]....The 'Second Wave' attack planned by KSM, thwarted by the use of enhanced interrogation techniques, would have hijacked a jetliner and crashed it into the Library Tower in Los Angeles, the tallest building on the West Coast. Thiessen points out, "without enhanced interrogations, there could be a hole in the ground in Los Angeles to match the one in New York." But the impact would have been far worse than the physical devastation to L.A and the resultant thousands of casualties. The nation was reeling after 9/11, deadly anthrax was being delivered through the mail, the economy was in trouble. A follow-up attack on the West Coast would have meant that, potentially, no one was safe. The effect would have been devastating. ....[/snip]------------ Did 'enhanced interrogation' save Los Angeles? If it quacks like a duck : Feinstein tells Haaretz: PM speech 'inappropriate,' Iran sanctions 'dangerous' ‎1‎/‎25‎/‎2015‎ ‎8‎:‎50‎:‎31‎ ‎AM · by Dave346 · 34 replies Haaretz ^ | Jan. 25, 2015 | 12:07 PM | Chemi Shalev Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California says that inviting Prime Minister Netanyahu to address Congress during an Israeli election period is “highly inappropriate” and that imposing new sanctions on Iran at this time is “reckless and dangerous.” Feinstein’s statement to Haaretz comes against the backdrop of the growing backlash against Netanyahu’s upcoming March 3 speech to Congress, which is already causing some Democratic lawmakers to rethink their support for the Iran sanctions bill proposed by Democratic Senator Robert Menendez from New Jersey and Republican Senator Mark Kirk from Illinois. According to journalist Laura Rozen of Al-Monitor, Menendez is trying to...
