Wouldn’t it be nice if our fearless leader could take time off from destroying this country and use some of our firepower to exterminate the subhuman savages.
Oh, I forgot. He will never hurt his true buddies.

They should line them up like this to send a strong message that Islam and "radical" forms of it won't be tolerated!

The “awesome” part is the rising up of the populace to assist the government in the fight. Killing 500 Terrorists also means that at least 500 of the guys carrying machetes and clubs can now go into battle the next time a little better armed. The AK can be used as a club and as machete if needed.

... Troops from the terror group attacked the biggest city in northeast Nigeria, Maiduguri.
... hundreds of civilians armed with hunting rifles, clubs and machetes advance toward the battles, saying they want to help the soldiers stop the militants. With some effort, the people of Maiduguri should build tank traps, berms, and any obstacles they can, so their city can become a killing field for the Boko Haram mass murderers and slavers.

As said, I’d view figures with some skepticism. Then, besides that, it seems these victories have not come until this “regional force” came into play. But I do believe they are making some headway against Boko Haram in Nigeria which is why BH then went on and reportedly committed a massacre in neighboring Cameroon.
So, if one scuttles BH in one part, they will try to go somewhere else.
But at least, it looks like they are being a bit more competent.
