In his 2015 budget proposal, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) offers an unusual change amid the details of how and where he proposes spending the state's money. As noted by the watchdog sit PR Watch (and brought to our attention by journalist Abe Sauer), Walker would like to change the statement of purpose and mission for the University of Wisconsin system. Less talk about searching for truth; more talk about meeting the state's workforce needs.
Walker's proposal amends the university's mission as follows. (The key here: something added, something removed.)

Full court press by the left against Scott Walker.
“Search for Truth” isn’t in WaPo’s mission, either.
1. For a University that is more than an expensive vocational school under the aegis of the state, I don’t like it. That said, the phrase “Human Resources” was already in the old vebage. That is the real problem. People should not be primarily defined as “resources”. In the old days, it was employees, or workers, then personnel. Finally somewhere before secretaries became assistants, the term “human resources” was spawned.
So, basically Walker doesn’t want Wisconsin to have universities any more.
He just lost my support.
The university (read Cardinal Newman on the subject) is one of the great institutions of Western civilization, and no one who wants to destroy universities as institutions of intellectual inquiry, whether to serve the leftist project of building state power by turning them into means of indoctrination in anti-human ideals or to serve the rightist project of bolstering commerce by turning them into trade schools is worthy of the name conservative.
His proposed changes look acceptable. If implemented they may get rid of such gems as :”Ethnic Studies,” “Gender Studies,” “LGBT Studies,” and “Basket Weaving 101.”
I’m all for it. Just hope and pray Scott Walker can survive the national proctoscopic exam that is fast approaching.
get rid of Basket Weaving 101.????
ARE you INSANE, we will need basket weaving skills during the next great collapse, it will be a great growth industry after the collapse!!!
LOL!
I expect him to “press” right back.
...Division I Football, Division I Basketball, baseball, track, swimming, gymnastics...?
” Less talk about searching for truth; more talk about meeting the state’s workforce needs.”
Maybe the author could have more correctly stated “...more talk about helping students obtain the knowledge necessary to earn a llving.”
Nobody gives a rats ass about these mission statements. Usually they just come out of some committee whose job is to create inoffensive and garbled jargon.
Changing it was actually a pretty good piece political misdirection. It’s gets the faculty fighting over something meaningless while the real goals are accomplished.
So, basically Walker doesnt want Wisconsin to have universities any more.
...
It’s not like leftist dominated public universities really search for the truth. And most people get college degrees so they can have good careers.
Leftist academics want to live off other peoples tax dollars while they supposedly “search for the truth”.
In fact, they are leftists who only search for selective truths that serve their purpose. They want to define what “the truth” is and define how to search for it.
In reality they try to silence and oppress those who actually speak the truth.
College professors should teach young people something useful that will help them contribute to society. Or go find a real job.
Governor Walker is right.
I suspect that part of this is a preface to the next step: putting the University of Wisconsin—Madison under the same rules as the rest of the system. Frankly, they are a big, bad power center with a lot of independent resources that can be a bit of a bully.
Well this is where the rhetoric meets the road.
If he wants the nomination, and the WH, he had better get his media strategy into gear.
Cultural Marxists have pretty much completely taken over Wisconsin's University System and they ideologically rule their campus intellectual feudal empires with an iron fist that would make Stalin blush with pride.
