NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams admitted Wednesday he was not aboard a helicopter hit and forced down by RPG fire during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a false claim that has been repeated by the network for years.
Williams himself repeated the claim Friday during NBC’s coverage of a public tribute at a New York Rangers hockey game for a retired soldier that had provided ground security for the grounded helicopters. In an interview with Stars and Stripes, he said he had misremembered the events and was sorry.
The admission came after crew members on the 159th Aviation Regiment’s Chinook that was hit by two rockets and small arms fire told Stars and Stripes that the NBC anchor was nowhere near that aircraft or two other Chinooks flying in the formation that took fire. Williams arrived in the area about an hour later on another helicopter after the other three had made an emergency landing, the crew members said.

That's actually quite common. My parents gave me a balloon in the park when I was nine years old. I misremembered that for years as me being on the Hindenburg when it went down.
Then there was the time when I momentarily saw Hillary at the State of the Union. It was only a few days ago that I realized that was the truth; until then I had misremembered events for years as me being next to the First Lady when we landed under sniper fire in Bosnia - Hillary and I just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.
I shouldn't forget that I so often forget the true story of my Vietnam experience. I keep thinking that I was there with Connecticut's senior US Senator, Richard Blumenthal, but we both misremembered that one too. Neither of use served in Vietnam, just watched Dan Rather's fake but accurate reports on the news, but we both remember serving together over there and then returning home as if it had been real.
I remember the days, months of fun the “press” had with the phrase of Nixon’s press secretary, Ron Ziegler, “our previous statements are inoperative”. I assume they will report that the lead “news”caster “misremembered” being shot down in an Army helicopter in a war zone. Just like I misremembered being the missing Lindbergh baby, Judge Crater and Ambrose Bierce.
Why would an infantry platoon walk down the creek? Seems like if you took enemy fire you would be bogged down.

Don't ask me. Like I said, I was never actually there. Ask Senator Blumenthal. He wasn't there either, but he may have done enough research to lie well.
Was he under sniper fire and have to do a corkscrew landing just like his idol Hitlery?

Misremembered. Just like Hillary a/k/a Lady Macbeth, who “misspoke” about her own flight being fired upon. They create clever words to take the place of the word “LIED.” These miserable piles of excrement could not tell the truth if their crappy lives depended on it. I despise both of them and wish them to just disappear. Forever.
But it was real when Williams snapped to attention and saluted Obama. That one was caught on video.
This is how people get to the top in this world. They lie and cheat.
It was bizarre; my wife and kids (who are pretty detached from such stuff) were also creeped out by it. They like “The Hunger Games”, and this was something right out of the capital district; I can’t believe he was so upfront.

Temple University just honored Williams for something (It’s in the most recent issue of “TEMPLE”, the alumni magazine (which I don’t have with me). Why honor a leftist, lying POS? Gonna find out.
His lie puts him in with fake-Vietnam veterans and servicemen like Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Sen. Blumenthal (D- Conn), Al Hubbard, leader of John Kerry’s Vietnam Veterans Against the War in Vietnam (he never served in Nam), and, if I remember correctly, Jessie Ventura, among others.
Will NBC censure Williams for lying? Hell no. They’ll give him a medal of some kind for lying through his smiling teeth.
Meanwhile my son served and fought in Iraq but he doesn’t have to lie about anything because he’s an honest person and we know what he says happened was true.
For those of you who like Chris Kyle, my son was an M-249 sharpshooter for his squad. Some Iraqi fedeyeen wish he wasn’t such a good shot. Oh, too late for you, you bastards (used women and children as human shields).
