Such is the quality of American military leadership that generals and political appointees like McHugh will send courageous soldiers like Golsteyn into incredibly difficult (some would suggest impossible) circumstances, then invest years in second-guessing their actions after the fact—and then, finding no evidence of wrongdoing, still publicly dishonor the man without giving him a chance to defend himself.

Looks like the Army brass was unable to confirm the allegation, or get his team-mates to testify against him, but they still want to screw him over it.
Obama’s Army and it needs to be cleaned out and fumigated when he leaves office. The Generals and senior officers are guilty of career before country and they have to go.
Mr. Hunter, slip a line into a must-pass appropriations bill that restores the Silver Star and gives the major his DSC.
When it passes and is signed, call up Secretary McHugh and tell him to GFH.
McHugh never served in any branch of the military.
In March 2010, as Secretry of the Army, before Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was eliminated, McHugh said that he would not pursue discharges against soldiers who tell him privately that they are gay.
So, he violated Army policy. SOB needs to be tarred and feathered and sent packing.

I have to say that just a few years ago I would shudder at the mention of a military at odds with the civilian leadership.
Now, I can understand why members of the military are at odds with not only the civilian leadership, but with the military leadership as well.
With such pressure on the field grade officers that challenge their careers and pensions, I am honestly afraid that our armed services are becoming brittle. By that, the differences between the automaton followers must be grinding against the true professionals in the service. at some point, metal that has become brittle, just snaps.
