Brian Williams is either mentally deranged or extremely stupid. He’s the news anchor of a major network and anything he says in public is going to be picked up on some website. So stupid. His reputation is gone and I think he doesn’t last another week. NBC is going to have the pull the plug on him.

“Gunga Brian” just doesn’t roll of the tongue like “Gunga Dan”.

He admitted, or accidentally let it out, that he doesn’t have one college credit. I’d like to see what resume he passed around over the years.

If you get your news from old-school "network news", you're not actually getting any news, you're watching a guy 'cause he has great hair. So getting it from a delusional narcissist is only taking it to the next level.

I'll never forget visiting a house about ten years ago in which I watched an old couple settle in to watch the MSM Nightly News together. Conscientous American citizens, keeping themselves informed! What a sad ritual. It felt to me like I had time-traveled back to the late 1950s.

It’s not because he fabricated a story. This is NBC, after all. Remember the Zimmerman tape. It’s not because keeping him would mean they approve of what he did. They do.

It’s because Williams has accidentally shown the nation and the world the true face of the so-called “mainstream” media. He has shown that they really do operate on the principle Dan Rather enunciated to Bill O’Reilly on May 15, 2001: “I believe you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.”

They cannot allow people to see their true face. So Williams will have to go before people figure out the con that the liberal media has been perpetrating for 60 years or more.

Williams hasn’t done anything that Dan Rather or Walter Cronkite or any of the others didn’t do. It’s just that he (and Rather) did it sloppily and got caught.

Another in the long tradition of reports BS. In the 60’s, I read stories about battles in RVN that were written from interviews done at the hotel bar in Saigon.

The warrior being interviewed was ready to tell tales as long as the report was buying, the more drinks, the better the tale.

Today, it seems the that they have just cut out the middle men... and the bar tab.

Thirty years ago, it would be difficult to imagine a liar or fantasist surviving in a job that supposedly depends on one's trustworthiness. Yet today Brian Williams' survival is the way to bet - because the obsolete format of Big Three "network news" is a dinner-theatre exercise that now bears so little relation to real news that Williams' ability to project the aura of authority and integrity trumps the reality that he doesn't actually have any.

Give it a couple more years, and Lyin' Brian's helicopter story is going to be something like this, no doubt:

Brian Williams is no more a liar and fraud than the occupant now in the White Hut. Yet almost nobody is running wall-to-wall stories about the obvious lying and fraud of the latter.

The difference is, Williams is a relatively harmless media flack who knocks off the nightly "news" for profit while the occupant in the White Hut can knock off millions of people and ruin the entire country in a hurry if he feels like it.

This entire charade is just another "Look! Squirrel!!" episode to distract us from what is really going on and what is really important.

Joseph Goebbels must be rolling over in his grave in envy.

Steyn can turn a phrase, “Maybe Williams is delusional. Maybe he is to anchors as Anthony Weiner is to wankers - a guy so cocksure he figures he can push it a little further each time.”

Brian Williams is 'surviving' because his boss is a soft hearted, mushy brained woman with 'feelings' rather than integrity.
