Florist, 70, facing 'ruin' rejects state's '30 pieces of silver'

'You chose to attack my faith … to threaten my very means of eating'

A Washington state florist facing “ruin” for her decision not to support same-sex “marriage” through her business has rejected out of hand an offer to settle a state claim of discrimination against her.

As WND reported this week, Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom authorized the state and the homosexual plaintiffs to pursue the business and personal assets of Barronelle Stutzman, including her home, in payment of damages and attorneys’ fees.

The Alliance Defending Freedom confirmed Ekstrom granted a summary judgment in the case against Stutzman, meaning it will not proceed to trial. A trial had been scheduled for March 23. But the ADF said it would be appealed.

Last month, Ekstrom ruled Stutzman was personally was liable for the claims against her, placing her business assets, her home and personal savings at risk.

The judge ordered this week that the state and the homosexual plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorneys’ fees from Stutzman.

May God richly bless this woman who is standing more firmly for her Christian beliefs than church leaders of this nation who cower over controversy.

By the state effectively forcing people to do business against their will they have effectively “nationalized” or “state-ized” private businesses....

And don’t try to whine about (well this is what southern segregation was about) because a vast majority of segregation in the south was STATE ENFORCED!

So now the state can tell you who to do business with????

Gee, looks like the Democrats are back in power again....

I’m praying that this case will backfire so bad on these activists and the judges that aid and abet them in their efforts to rewrite all of the rules our society has evolved on our path towards civilization.

It is really going to hurt the small boutique type places. I mean Walmart, McDonald’s and other places are not going to be hurt by this because who the heck knows who is gay or straight when buying regular items. The places that are in deep trouble are the florists, cake makers, caterers, and other small businesses. Very sad that in this day and age we are forced to accept sin.

The only way that will work is to start raising money for her to appeal if necessary all the way to the Supreme Court. I can’t see a reason to harm someone to the extent of driving them into poverty because they refused service. That’s cruel and unusual. What financial harm did the couple suffer?

The woman needs to counter sue.

Did you really think that one through?

My solution: make as much of the cake as possible, and then contract the rest of the cake out. Give a referral or card, and send them with the cake to the address of the contractor. Who will, of course, give you a finder’s fee.

Sadly, this solution will probably pass muster, but only because it enables the bakery to sidestep the issue of forced requirement to violate one’s religion.

The civil rights movement was a marxist ploy to destroy private property, local control of schools, freedom of lchoice etc. While the cause was noble emotions ran wild and the marxists in government took full advantage of it.

Thanks for posting this. I had received an e-mail from WND just minutes before posting and did a quick check for a similar post. Perhaps those just getting on FR tonight didn’t see the earlier post.

I suppose what is needed is to do the same targeting of liberal estrablishments.

Go into Jewish bakeries and demand swastika-shaped pastries and Hitler cakes. Go into gay places and demand anti-gay/pro-hetero themed whatever. Then file the lawsuits.

Actually my solution that would 100% work is not printable. But what do you do when rotten wood is found in your house?
