The Media’s Embarrassing Scott Walker Spectacle [Media, heal thyself.]
NRO - National Review Online ^ | February 23, 2015 | Charles C. Cooke

"..........On Vox last week, Jenée Desmond-Harris blamed many of America’s ills on “unconscious racism,” which, she suggests, is “also known as implicit bias.” There is a regnant idea in America, Desmond-Harris contends, that is “so deeply entrenched that many of us aren’t aware that we hold it — that white is better than black.” This point was echoed by Nicholas Kristof in Saturday’s New York Times. Directly addressing “white men,” Kristof submitted that because all human beings are “prone to the buffeting of unconscious influences,” “bias remains widespread in ways that systematically benefit both whites and men.” In both cases, the argument is clear: that one’s own preconceptions determine what is “normal” and what is “abnormal,” and that it is important for everybody to audit themselves in order to recognize their inclinations.

This being so, one can only wonder why such rules are not applied to the press corps, the members of which are disproportionately of, by, and for the Left. All too often, the media’s starting point is that Democrats are “normal,” and that Republicans are not, and that conservatives therefore need to be subjected to obtuse questions that progressives, being sound, can be spared. From the reaction to Walker’s words, we might conclude rather confidently that our leading lights are simply incapable of discerning that there is something rotten about the presumption that Walker’s silence and indifference are “disqualifying” but that Hillary’s apparently well-documented refusal to answer even the most basic of questions is politically smart. We might understand why Scott Walker’s being ambushed in hotel lobbies and invited to opine on the state of the president’s soul is deemed to be a vital part of the usual cut and thrust, but that anything that casts President Obama in a bad light is regarded as worthy of condemnation. And we might comprehend why two middle-of-the-road — and often excellent — reporters sincerely believed that the question was a good one to offer up in the first instance.

The Mote and the Beam

Slate: Scott Walker’s First Big Chance "Scott Walker is taking a stand against campaign gotcha questions. All praise to him! It’s a noble goal, and a posture that’s very hard to sustain.

When two Washington Post reporters asked the Wisconsin governor if he thought President Obama was a Christian, he refused to answer on account of it not having anything to do with anything. “To me, this is a classic example of why people hate Washington and, increasingly, they dislike the press,” he replied. (Nice of him to say “increasingly … dislike the press,” as if that condition were still in transition as opposed to frozen in amber). “The things they care about don’t even remotely come close to what you’re asking about.....”

Earlier in his show yesterday, Rush mentioned this debate [linked below] between WI Gov. Scott Walker and the Mayor of Milwaukee, WI [who was challenging Walker in a recall election after he "broke" union hold on the state].

It's an hour but by watching it ALL you will have a good idea how Walker is going to campaign and interact with the media and critics.

Wisconsin Gubernatorial Final Recall Debate - 5/31/2012

The results Map:

Wisconsin governor recall election — Scott Walker vs. Tom Barrett"

As I told Freeper who sent me a comment last night that she'd watched this debate too:

"Glad you watched the debate - it WAS interesting.

I’d start levitating at the “toad Barret [her apt discriptor],” but Walker would sit calmly and then very unemotionally run Barret through. Over and over and over again. I finally relaxed and enjoyed the show."

WaPo - Jennifer Rubin: Hillary Clinton should be disqualified, not Scott Walker "......Forget comments about others’ comments. Clinton won’t tell us — for she is in perpetual hiding — what she thinks about the compelling issues of the day. She can’t give her opinion on the Keystone XL pipeline. Anyone ask her if she thinks we are winning the war against the Islamic State, if we have improved our standing with Arab allies, if we have violated our promise to Ukraine to provide security in exchange for having given up its nukes, if Iran can be allowed to just “unplug” its centrifuges as the U.S. negotiators are apparently suggesting, or her opinion on any of hundreds of other knotty foreign or domestic issues? Isn’t it pure cowardice for her to remain silent about an imminent deal that would leave Iran with thousands of centrifuges? Really, now is the time for candor and leadership. Knowing how untenable a nuclear-armed Iran would be, her silence is irresponsible. I wonder why the media aren’t pestering her for her position and decrying her silence as disqualifying for the job as commander in chief..........

.....Voters, not the media, ultimately will assess Walker’s fitness for office. In the meantime, the media would be advised to start demanding candor from Clinton and then judge her by the same standard they apply to Walker."

As opposed to the overt racism blacks express all over this country’s whites and other non-blacks?

It’s about depressing Walker’s ability to draw campaign money to run a viable campaign.

Hillary is given a pass on her $2B Clinton foundation fund (along with everything else) that is taking in millions from foreign countries.

Evidently, Balz and Costa did not ask in good faith. Rather, they wanted a specific response, and they were determined to crucify their man if he didn’t give it to them. That, I’m afraid, is not journalism; it’s entertainment.

The main stream media is to journalism what islam is to religion.

The media ain't journalism and islam ain't religion.
