I was hoping there would be a referendum on this issue.

The apparatchiks need a place for their feces? How they dare a trade group steal their progressive label and referendum the anointed climate changers.

JHC! Those bags already have multiple uses. Inserts for small garbage cans, putting garden harvest in them, picking up pet waste, and our local grocery store credits 5 cents per bag if they are re-used in their store.

I like it. The Peoples Republic of Long Beach (R) has a city ban, but Los Alamitos, Lakewood and Signal Hill are close, and don't have such a head of fluff in their city councils...

Does a referendum in California mean anything? Don’t the leftists just go around the voters with executive orders and activist judges?

Unintended consequences: a new plastic bag was invented that is “sold” for a dime in Laguna Beach at Albertsons. It is the strongest best plastic bag ever! And it must be a-ok with the junk science crowd. I think some couple in Oregon produces it, probably for less than a penny, but you know how City Councils find ways to punish the abusers who insist on sterile, non-bacteria infested reusable grocery bags (and, ahem, fill their public coiffers).

Surprised by this. Good for them.

We have had a bag ban here for sometime. In the middle of a recession it just makes life harder.

What always gets me is that nobody ever asks why we have plastic bags in the first place.

The reason why we have plastic bags is because a previous generation of enviro-extremists pushed for them. They pushed plastic bags on us in the early ‘80s, to be used instead of paper bags. They wanted to get rid of paper bags to save the rainforests.

So today, enviro-extremists have decided we should get rid of plastic bags. BUT IT’S BECAUSE OF ENVIRO-EXTREMISM that we have plastic bags in the first place!!!!

So, were they wrong to foist plastic bags on us 30 years ago, or are they wrong now to want to get rid of them? Were they wrong then or are they wrong now???

They will pass the referendum. Then some court will overturn the will of the people and it will all return to paper rather than plastic.
Welcome to California!

I’m so glad. I’ve been hoarding them, and I’m running out of room.

I can use paper if I have to, but I’ve felt all along that the ban on plastics was unjust discrimination against us “bi-sackuals”

Paper is a better material, and its use funds forest management.
