Though the administration won't say so directly, U.S. officials hint replacing Ambassador Ron Dermer is key to mending ties.
Senior U.S. officials made clear after the speech that the White House sees Netanyahu as the one who created the current crisis, and so if he is reelected, the responsibility for repairing the breach will be his.
We are not the ones who created this crisis, said a senior administration official. President Obama has another two years in office and we wish to go back to a reality where you can work together despite the differences. The prime minister of Israel is the one who needs to find a way to fix this.
Dermer the instigator
Although White House officials dont say so explicitly, they seem to imply that one way to repair the relations between Netanyahu and Obama would be to replace Israels ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer.
In his speech to AIPAC, Netanyahu praised Dermer for standing firm and taking the heat in Washington. If Netanyahu wins the election and continues to back Dermer, the ambassador will find himself isolated in the American capital. As long as Obama is in the White House, nobody in the administration will work with him.
If Netanyahu wishes to work with the White House, hell have no choice but to replace his protégé Dermer, who is seen by the Obama administration as persona non grata, even if they dont say so publicly.
The prime minister, who is elected, is the one who decides who is the Israeli ambassador to Washington. It is clear to us that Dermer prioritized his relations with Congress over his relations with the administration, an American official said.

Very sweet post.
They are setting up a straw man,....a distraction and diversion . They assign blame to those who have rightly pointed the finger directly at Obama.
If Obama tells Netanyahu to replace the ambassador, Bibi will merely laugh & say he has full confidence in his envoy.
But if Obama really wants the current Israeli ambassador gone, he has only to order the State Department to declare him `persona non grata’ & revoke his diplomatic credentials, & give him 24 hours to depart U.S. soil. Simple.
Yeah, right. Were that to happen, it would be a green light to Israel to `go it alone’ if you get my drift.
Wars often begin when ambassadors are expelled.

You wish to go back to a reality? There are alternative realities? Try this: Quit toking. There is only one real reality.
SOP for the traitorous SOB. Snub, denigrate, threaten our allies, play footsies with our enemies and the enemies of our allies. He can do anything apparently because Boehner has taken impeachment off the table.
If Iran gets a nuke by hook or by crook they will use it on Israel and/or the Great Satan.
FUJB.
WHAT Crisis? Netanyhu has not, like Citizen Genet, been traveling around the country campaigning before private groups, opposition to the Presidents policy. He was here at the the invitation of the US Congress. They invited Netanyahu because they felt excluded by the President, who intends to make an executive agreement with the Iranian government rather than submit the agreement as a treaty to the Senate for advise and consent. He is furious with Netanyahu and the Israeli ambassador because theyenabled Congress to make him look bad and maybe make the agreement politically unacceptable by making it clear that Obama wants to enter into a detente with Iran rather than stop them getting a bomb, He has been trying to hide this radical change in US policy and has now been frustrated in that goal.
