Prayers for the police officer but there are parts of the story that make no sense like The 30-year-old father leaves behind a 9-year-old son and a 1-year-old child What the hell is the one year old, neuter? Or Wilson, who was in full uniform followed by "We don't know if they knew he was a police officer or not," Ramsey said. "We suspect, perhaps, they did not." They think that a criminal doesn't know what a cop in full uniform looks like? I thought things were weird here in California but this is just bizarre!

They probably didn’t have time to find out if the 1-year-old is a boy or a girl.
It seems like the uniformed officer was already in the store when these guys came in and announced a robbery. That seems like a strange thing to do if a uniformed officer is standing there wearing a gun belt, so maybe they didn’t see him clearly. Maybe he was standing behind a display and was only partially visible.

but there are parts of the story that make no senseThe news media is in a race with Twitter to get the story out. This doesn't leave a lot of time for fact-checking.

At least from this pseudo journalist.

Police later recovered the suspects' weapons at the scene of the shooting, a .40-caliber and a 9mm. One of the weapons had an extended clip, allowing the suspect to fire more rounds than usual, officials said. How convenient.
Police also said the suspects had priors, and one was on parole.
Imagine that?

The news media is in a race with Twitter to get the story out. This doesn't leave a lot of time for fact-checking. Yeah like an earlier post where they say "he left behind(that always struck me as odd) a wife and two children" and this post that basically says two children and a grandmother.

Yeah, it could be anything. They could have been patrolling in a car, passed the Game Stop, and the officer remembered that he had promised his kid a game. So he just ran into the store for a quick errand while his partner waited.
Since the crime had not started when he entered the store, it was probably not official police business, or the partner would have gone in too.

21st and Lehigh...home to the long-ago "state-of-the-art" Connie Mack Stadium/Shibe Park. The neighborhood had long before deteriorated when I spent many an hour on the $1.00 bleachers (well-worn, painted 2x6's) with my grandfather.
{sigh}
