American nuclear powered submarines consider all surface vessels targets, the bigger the better.

Hope they put a better buffet on it then the buffet on the first one. No soft ice cream. And lobster night was a bust. I know lobster. Lobsters don’t have beaks. The only towel animal the maid could make was a sponge. Just wadded up the towel and threw it on the bed. She came around on the last day looking for a tip. I gave her a tip.

“Learn how to make a bird out of a towel!”

She evidently had learned how to make a bird out of her middle finger.

In the most recent year, America ran a 342 billion dollar trade deficit with China.

A new all-time record.

China now has the second-largest military budget, on earth. And it is growing. Rapidly.

Bring American businesses back. To America.

Around 1996, I read in the WSJ that China had bought our military plane jig wing assemblies at auction for $2k. I knew then that “our” planes would be flying our skies someday. Just like the Warthog, our older planes did just fine. Can you imagine the confusion as we try to identify the enemy?

Let the Japs handle this. As a matter of national pride they need another chance to finally do a Pearl Harbor-style attack right.

...and why if it is a waning weapon system are the Chinese expending a lot of resources to build an ever more capable and larger carrier air arm?

Probably to project their power towards 3rd world nations from which they have been buying up natural resources with all the US dollars they are sitting on. ... Basically to police their international assets.

The US is already being pushed out of China’s near waters but no one wants to admit because it would lead to crisis.

Remember, China is not interested in roving the world, they just want to control their area.

A Aircraft Carrier group against an enemy that is not militarily technologically advanced is a formidable weapon. The life span of a Russian, Chinese or American Carrier is measured in minutes or at the best a few hours when in conflict with each other.

I love Carriers and they are formidable weapons in war against our enemies that do not posses sophisticated systems of attack.

Carries are useless in a war between those that have equal technology of war, with this one exception, they can launch a nuclear strike with short notice being minutes. The aircraft that launch the strike will have no place to land when finished. Their Carrier will be burning and or sunk upon their return.

It is probably a waning system when stacked against first-world countries with modern navies.

It will do quite nicely against third-world countries.

They just laid the keel for the latest Virginia Class boat...The Colorado.

We are currently building two boats a year.

Y not sell USS Ranger to Taiwan, then sell them F-35’s..?

Why would Taiwan want it?

Can't take on the US 7th Fleet in the Taiwan Strait with one outdated carrier now can you?

They keep building to gain regional hegemony and we keep watching them do it.

Clinton and Loral, the gifts that keep on giving.

If their carriers are as functional and reliable as their consumer-electronics products are, our biggest worry is that they might make it beyond the 30-day return window before sinking under their own weight.

But just in case they actually do work, I would like to see Japan build a few carriers of their own — and modify their concept of “defense” to include protecting the sea lanes over which their commercial ships pass.

We’ve had these “reports” NUMEROUS times over the last three years.

They have all proved false to date.

If the source info is coming from WANTCHINATIMES on Taiwan on similar souces...it is not a credible source.

I have no doubts that the Chinese are ultimately going to build several carrier battle groups...maybe as many as five. There is just no current credible information yet that they have started their second one.

I used to play Fleet Command. Whenever I went up against the Russkies their Bears or Backfires would launch missiles from way out, my F-18s did not have the range to get them before they launched. They always concentrated their missiles on the carrier. I would try to cheat and launch all my aircraft toward their line of approach but they still ended sinking the carrier.
