Coward. One would think given he so suppose to represent the libertarian wing he would come out in favor of a low protecting freedom of conscience. But I bet he is afraid of alienating the Millenials he needs to have a chance of winning.

As a conservative Libertarian, I'm ashamed of Rand. This is all about freedom of conscience, freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech - fundamental tenants of our country.

If Rand can't see this, can't articulate this, and is no better than the other GOP candidates whose God is money, God help us.

If the state can now compel someone to act against their conscience, 500 years of Western Civilization is on the edge.

I heard from wise Evangelical Fundamental Christian Conservative Bible Business People....say...that the MONEY, and profit they receive from Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Scientologists and New Age clowns looks REAL good at the end of the day deposited in the bank. I think they need to let the BUSINESS LAW of supply and demand go to work and keep the governors desk free of such nonsense.

Thank you for referencing that article C19fan. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

There is no real controversy about Indiana’s religous freedom law imo. Sadly, low-information Christians in this case and related cases evidently don’t know the Constitution well enough to protect themselves from their states regardless if states like Indiana had never made such a law.

As mentioned in related threads, the key constitutional statute is Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

14th Amendment, Section 1:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Note that the “privileges or immunities” term which John Bingham, the main author of Section 1, used in that section is just another way to refer to constitutionally enumerated rights, most of these well-known rights, including 1st Amendment-protected freedom of religious expression, listed in the Bill of Rights.

And Christians must keep in mind that the low-information state government “leaders” of their respective states are probably just as clueless as to what the Constitution indicates about such issues as the government “leaders” in Indiana evidently are.
