What I told my stepmom today. We are both Calif ex-pats.

Told her no way all the rich swells that pay $50k a year in club dues are going to golf on a course that is not pristine and green. Conservation is for the little people.

Someone driving through Palm Desert and Palm Springs should get some cell phone video of the greens being watered thoroughly. Post it here and send it to the LAT.

Having lived around Sacramento, something I could never understand was why they were growing rice in what amounted to a semi desert.
Huge amounts of water for a very low value crop. I can under stand irrigation for growing Avocado’s, Almonds etc, but flooding thousands of acres to grow rice at a couple of bucks for a 10 pound sack was idiotic. Thats what Louisiana is for.
