Rev. Al Sharpton called for national policing legislation akin to the Civil Rights Act this morning at the kickoff his National Action Network’s annual convention, just after the arrest of a white South Carolina police officer for murder in the shooting of an unarmed black man.
“There must be national policy and national law on policing,” Mr. Sharpton said. “We can’t go from state to state, we’ve got to have national law to protect people against these continued questions.”
Mr. Sharpton’s comments, coming on the heels of multiple instances of police killings of unarmed men of color around the country, were met with applause from the crowd—and from the dais, which was packed with elected officials including Mayor Bill de Blasio, Congressman Charles Rangel, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, city Comptroller Scott Stringer and state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli
The convention kickoff, which featured a ribbon cutting with the lawmakers, came just hours after it was announced last night that North Charleston, S.C., police officer Michael T. Slager would be charged with murder in the death of Walter Scott—who can be seen in a widely publicized video running away from Mr. Slager, while the officer shoots into the man’s back repeatedly. The video offers a markedly different story than the one Mr. Slager first offered up: that Scott had stolen his taser and left him in fear for his life.

What, exactly, that a complete video might reveal, would justify shooting a fleeing perp in the back? I really want to know what that would be.

The people who have truly been listening to the Obama Administration, Justice Department, Al Sharpton, etc... have seen known all along that a national police force is their ultimate goal. None of them give a “flip” about any of these black people that they have held up to be victims of police brutality—starting with Treyvon Martin.
Once again the enemies of the state are simply using the same blueprint for effecting their desired change—1) Create/invent/identify a problem, 2) Engage the MSM and activist groups to magnify the invented problem, and 3) Implement their desired solution.
Al Sharpton and odumbo could both die in a burning car crash as far as I am concerned and I could care less. Yes, I am bitter but NOT racist.
It’s like the boy who cried wolf. They cry racism every time a black personhas a encounter with the police. At this point most people just tue them out and ignore it.
What does Sharliton think violation of civil rights prosecutions are?
Criminal violations there already with huge sentences on conviction up to life in prison or the death penalty.
But, al thinks it should be made more illegal.

This is what bugs me.
Every time a white (cop or not) kills a black, it MUST be racism.
Not just plain happenstance, not just a zealot reactionary cop, not just an accident.
What I want to know is, how many WHITES have been killed by cops? By black cops? For no reason? While running away? For being a thug?
All these things matter, because every incident lately is yet another lame excuse for Charlatan/Not-So-Sharpton and his minions to tag ALL whites as racist. Like it’s an endemic problem that all whites have, and are all guilty. THAT is what I hate about all the hype these stories get, legit or not.

as understand the law, the officer can shoot a fleeing suspect only when “he poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.”
in this case it doesn’t look like it, but who knows.
if the suspect said “i’m a martyr, i have a suicide belt and i’m going to run into that school over there and blow it up.”
in that case a shooting would be fully justified.
i’m just going to wait and see.

Sharpton doesn’t seem to care about Brian Claunch, the one armed, one legged, mental patient who was shot in the head sitting in his wheel chair waving an ASSAULT BALL POINT PEN at the officer who shot him. It couldn’t have anything to do with Brian’s pale skin now, could it?
