The University of Michigan said late Wednesday that it will show the film "American Sniper" as originally scheduled after a protest by students and staff caused the screening to be scrapped.
University Vice President for Student Life E. Royster Harper called the decision to cancel the Friday night showing a "mistake" in a statement.
"The initial decision to cancel the movie was not consistent with the high value the University of Michigan places on freedom of expression and our respect for the right of students to make their own choices in such matters," Harper said. "The movie will be shown at the originally scheduled time and location."

Someone will be traumatized. There will be lawsuits.
What? The little fascists didn’t get their way?
Well bowl me over with a feather...
So was this another 1% activist decision...one or two people driving the whole university. Time for the minorities to get in the back seat...we will listen, but they cannot drive. I’m tired of being “driven” by the minority 1%!
Liberals respect freedom of expression, as long as they’re doing the talking.
The cancelation drew a strong reaction, and The Michigan Daily reported that a third-year Law School student named Rachel Jankowski circulated a petition calling on the university’s Center for Campus Involvement to restore “American Sniper” to the UMix schedule.
The university’s football coach, Jim Harbaugh, weighed in on the controversy by tweeting that he would watch the movie with his team.
Perhaps if they show it back to back with “Selma”? Or cut out all shooting/insensitive scenes and replace all muzzies with swedes? ~s
Thanks to Jim Harbaugh. Good for Jim and loveed his remarks on this issue.
I will watch Michigan fooball and hope for a great season to come!
This is worse than Hitler. I’m feeling this is a microaggression and I am having trouble breathing. I need to go to a Safe Space to visit my inner child.
Someone reminded him that the ticket sales and vending concessions would be affected.
That drove the decision.
Follow the money.
Until everyone wakes up and watches them, that is...
The real 1%ers.
Excellent comment.
Sounds like muslims might need to check their privilege.
Likely because the football coach said his team would watch the movie. Thanks Coach Harbaugh!
I love the smell of common sense in the morning.
Good job, Coach!....Good job, Rachel!
There’s big money in college football. Its often a bad thing but this time the influence is a good thing.

Goodness after the movie has been seen by everyone they are going to show it at a college? I can’t even imagine that anyone who wanted to see it hasn’t seen it already. Waste of time. I loved the movie a lot but I definitely couldn’t have waited 4 months to see it so I could see it for free on campus.
