Hillary sat at a table, Iowans around her, making the case for what most of us would call amnesty for illegal aliens.
She cited her grandparents.
As she has many times before, she said they were immigrants.
All of them.
She told stirring stories of how hard they worked and how they found their place in America.
It was all very moving.
The problem is, it didn’t happen to be true.
And within hours of her saying so, a reporter was able to prove her claim false.
How?
Census records.
In the era of Internet genealogy, once obscure and unreachable records are a few keystrokes away. And so it was that the Hillary family tree proved very easy to climb.
And it was clear.
One of her grandparents was an immigrant, but the other three weren’t – unless you consider Pennsylvania a foreign country.
And the one grandparent who was born overseas came here as a very small child and was essentially raised an American.
Which is neither here nor there. People come from where they come from and a grandparent from Scranton is a wonderful as a grandparent from Scotland.
But there is the issue of honesty.
Ask Brian Williams.
Hillary Clinton said that all four of her grandparents were immigrants. She said it this week, less than 48 hours ago.
And it was not true.
It wasn’t even close to true.
Criticism and questioning are being dismissed as sexism, and the matter is being called trivial and a misunderstanding of meaning. The word from Hillary’s camp is clear: This doesn’t mean anything. But maybe it does.
Maybe a president we can’t trust is a president we shouldn’t choose.
If someone will lie to make herself look good, or to advance a political advantage or point, is that the person you want to invest great power in?
And in the case of Hillary Clinton specifically, does this prevarication raise other questions.
For example, in the last two controversies in which Mrs. Clinton has been involved, her final assertion has been that we must trust her.
She said we had to trust that the Benghazi attack was handled appropriately, and she said that we had to trust that the e-mails she destroyed were personal and not official.
Those are two big buys.
And they require a lot of trust.
In both instances, grave national significance is attached to her being truthful. In both instances, normal processes of accountability and transparency were skirted, and we must believe her when she says they were no big deal.
That was hard before Wednesday.
It’s almost impossible now.
Because if she will lie about her grandparents, to advance her interests, might she have lied about the e-mails, to protect her interests?
We can’t know.
Unless somehow we can talk the Russian or Chinese intelligence services into giving us their surveilled copies of her e-mails – and you know they have them – we have no way of verifying what she did or did not delete.
This is harder than looking up census records.
This requires us to have complete confidence in someone who lied to us the day before yesterday.
And that’s hard to do.
And it reminds us of her bold assertion on national television, years ago during her husband’s presidency, that criticisms of him were the work of a “vast right-wing conspiracy.”
Except that those criticisms – that he diddled an intern and lied under oath – turned out to be true.
And there was no conspiracy.
And her husband – I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewansky – was a liar.
A trait he seems to share with his wife.
Honesty and Decency are two things SORELY lacking in most of today’s polititians.
Hillary is a SCREAMING example of this.
Yet democrat voters actually ADMIRE Democrat polititians when they lie - and get away with it. -THAT is an admirable trait to them!
I hate to get all ‘religious’ or whatever, but to me that proves the whole democrat thing is evil and satanic at its core.
And Hillary is the Queen of this.
Perfect!
It seems so easy a reporter so quickly got that “little green leaf” that led to discovery of her roots.
One wonders if this bitch ever really cared enough to investigate hers, instead preferring to depend on lies of opportunity and circumstance over her own heritage.
To deny oneself even the most basic questions of being in a country she so heralds as one she must protect is mind boggling to say the least.

immigrants as grandparents, who spoke no English, but wanted us as grandchildren to be raised and prosper in this great new land they came to.
She should have taken a play from Biden and claimed her parents were coal miners.

Democrats are irrational and immature (evil)-—and it will be impossible for them to mature—as Hillary proves in her old age. They decide Good and Evil by “feelings”like a two year old. If it “feels good, it is good”.
The lack of Reason and Logic (maturity) is astounding and they have tribal minds (irrational) like the Afghanis who have harems of pretty little boys who learn to mutilate and hate women......same evil worldview—where Reason and Logic (Natural Laws—Western Civ) is reviled——because as Machiavelli stated the Truth (God/Reality) is more hated than Lies.
They love to live in the Brave New World where Lies are Truth, Vice is Virtue and it is compassionate to let little boys pretend they are girls and to teach small children that there is no God—no Design in Nature (no Logic and Reason).
They are beyond Evil to destroy the ability of children to mature. As Dostoevsky stated: Without God, everything is permissible.
A reporter can find this small factoid in 10 minutes on a website yet NOTHING is known of Obama’s records.
And remember she’s a Clinton. When Clintons lie it is cute and lovable and for our own good. I learned that from the ‘90s..
After all, if a guy born with a dick and balls can perceive himself to be a female, why can't a person perceive all of their grandparents to be immigrants?
In the libtard view, when reality clashes with feeeeeeeelings, then the reality must be altered to conform. Not the other way around.

Maybe so. But it DOES have a pretty good cache of US Census records from which if I understand the reported trail was all that was needed to quickly denounce her lies.

Her grandparents weren’t and she is a liar. Nothing new. My paternal grandparents came after WW2 and three years in a concentration camp. Now that’s immigrants.
My maternal grandparents, although my mother likes to imagine they fled the British after hiding a murder weapon in an Irish thatch roof...............no, their ancestors were immigrants, potato famine, whatever, but my maternal grandparents were Americans.
My husband’s grandparents — all four — came directly from Poland, teenage immigrants. She thinks she can say anything and get away with it. Oh that’s right, she does. MSM just continues on, nothing to see here...
Of course we know. She would lie in a heartbeat to protect her interests. Whether those 'interests' were 'interesting' we can't know -- because those emails will never see the light of day -- but we do know that Hillary spews lies without any reservation. Heck, she got fired from her first job (junior assistant Watergate Inquisitor) for being a liar - and she's just grown worse over the years. She has no moral compass or conscience.
Ha! Now, I can excuse her lies about the video which caused the massacre in Benghazi, and I can excuse her the lies about her email server and trust her about only destroying personal emails - but, as a genealogist of 40+ years, I cannot excuse her making up false stories about her grandparents./s
Obama’s personal records (such as college transcripts) are deeply buried, but his mother’s US ancestry is known—that is as easy to trace as Hillary’s. Obama’s mother was descended from white slaveholders, something he doesn’t talk about.
