My colleague Jay Cost flags this Newsweek article, which is ostensibly about the scandalous revelation that one of the largest Clinton Foundation donor has trade ties to Iran. But here's the first paragraph:
>>>>Enemies of Hillary Clinton waiting to discredit her bid for the White House are likely to seize on news that one of the biggest benefactors to the Clinton Foundation has been trading with Iran and may be in breach of US sanctions imposed on the country.<<<<
Why on earth would a story about Clinton cashing large checks from a shady Ukranian oligarch be framed not about the scandal itself, but whether or not Hillary Clinton's supposed "enemies" would use it to discredit her? If she has, in fact, done something wrong or inappropriate -- she deserves to be discredited and/or judged by voters.

It certainly would be if she were a Republican, or at least if she were a conservative.
That Hillary is up to how many scandals?
Beats me. How many does it take to get the democrat nomination?
bttt
It’s still nothing but a Vast Rightwing Conspiracy!
Poor, poor widdle Hillary.
Isn't it ironic - Hillary being minced in the same manner as the president she wanted to mince forty years ago.
So, Newsweek is not concerned with the facts of the case. Instead , they are concerned with political enemies of Clinton using it against her.
Hard to imagine they would have the same opinion of a Republican with a family foundation soliciting money from shady overseas sources.......
Their way of handling it by trying to warn enemies off from using it. Won’t work, of course.
You know, as the Lamestream Media fawns over her I get the distinct impression that it is somewhat begrudging. Like when Carville was talking about Ted Cruz, he almost acted like he wished the democrats had a candidate worth getting really excited about.
But they will be stuck with Hillary. The Fenome who has no use for the Constitution and just happens to have no talent to be a true leader.
I say let them squirm.
Actually, it would be framed on the basis of when the conservative and/or Republican was going to be fired/impeached/forced-to-resign/bumrushed-in-disgrace rather than about the nature of the scandal itself.
The purpose of scandal in politics today is not to deter scandalous behavior, but to destroy the opposition, because the issue is never the issue, the issue is the revolution.

Hillary discredited Hillary. She didn’t need any help from us.
That’s a catchy cartoon, but I am so over the Nixon analogies.
After Carter, Clinton, and now Obama, it takes some nerve to go back over 40 years to find a demon to compare Hillary to.
This is not directed at you.
This election will be like the ‘68 election with someone like the MD gov upsetting her, and all hell will break loose. The Dem convention might not be a coronation, but a mess.
Trade Dispute Centers on Ukrainian Executive With Ties to Clintons
"Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton have built a sprawling network of powerful friends around the globe, one that could aid Mrs. Clintons chances were she to seek the presidency. But those relationships often come with intersecting interests and political complications; few people illustrate that more vividly than the Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk.
A steel magnate and major contributor to the former presidents foundation, Mr. Pinchuk was in frequent contact with Mrs. Clintons State Department, at meetings arranged by a Clinton political operative turned lobbyist, Douglas E. Schoen.
And now Mr. Pinchuk is at the center of a trade dispute that places him at odds with steelworkers in Pennsylvania and Ohio, precisely the kind of union workers Mrs. Clinton would need to appeal to in a presidential campaign......."
Thanks for the reply to my post.
IMHO, what the connection is, is that Hillary, as a part of the Watergate prosecutorial team, LIED (was fired because of it) and tried to get Nixon impeached over an 18 minute gap in a tape, when she NOW ERASED TENS OF THOUSANDS of gov’t emails and will probably get away with it, unlike Nixon who she tried to impeach.
Just my humble opinion....
My two cents: the Democrats will never be able to nominate a straight white male for President again; they are so in bed with identity politics that the nominee will have to be female, and/or Hispanic, and/or homosexual. No matter how liberal, a straight white male will never make it past the base.
NYT's Flawed Effort To Scandalize Clintons
"The New York Times published a guilt-by-association attack on Hillary Clinton, attempting to connect a trade dispute over alleged steel dumping to the former secretary of state through unrelated philanthropic connections.
Citing a Commerce Department investigation into dumping allegations against Victor Pinchuk, a Ukrainian business leader, reporter Amy Chozick fixated on Pinchuk's relationship to the Clintons as if it were news to Times readers:......."
Can the New Rich Buy Respect? One Ukrainian Oligarch Is Trying
"KIEV, Ukraine There comes a time in the life of an oligarch when spending money becomes more important than making it. And for Victor Pinchuk, the controversial oligarch and Ukraines second-richest man after Rinat Akhmetov, that time is now.
At his invitation, Paul McCartney recently performed before 350,000 exultant Ukrainians in Independence Square in Kiev during a thundering rainstorm. This is for Ukrainya, Mr. Pinchuk yelled after the performance in June.
It may have been, but the concert, which cost Mr. Pinchuk more than $5 million, was also the latest, most lavish stage for his own uneven metamorphosis from grasping, post-Soviet oligarch to international mover and shaker. Now, he calls the likes of the financier George Soros and former President Bill Clinton friends.
The worldwide boom in commodities has created a growing number of billionaires in once destitute economies like Russia, India and Ukraine. At the same time, the global credit crisis has set back the ambitions of many a Western titan and opened the way for a new breed of the superrich, hungry for art, access and, ultimately, acceptance............"
