unions should be forced to hold a vote every four years to see if the union is aloud to represent the workers it claims to represent
The law is a whole lot worse than that. I was once manager with a group of 12 people the UAW was trying to organize (they finally gave up). It was explained to me by our Legal Staff that a vote of 7 (half plus 1) would make the group all UAW members. If the group were to later realize their mistake and choose to leave the UAW, it would take a million votes (half the UAW at that time) to allow the dozen in the group to leave the UAW.
