The 17-year-old New Orleans teen Jefferson Parish authorities have accused of killing David Pence and his son, Nicholas, in Metairie last week faces charges out of Orleans Parish ranging from carjacking to the attempted second-degree murder of a U.S. Marshal's deputy, court records show.

New Orleans police say the same day Dexter Allen murdered the Pences, he carjacked a Metairie woman at gunpoint as she picked up her son in St. Roch. Two days later, he led U.S. Marshals on a chase along Interstate 10 that ended with him trying to run down a deputy and then jumped into the Industrial Canal in a failed escape attempt.

Allen made his second appearance in court Monday (April 27), when Magistrate Judge Harry Cantrell set a bond of $50,000 for one count of felony carjacking. Allen received a $20,000 bond Friday on charges of attempted second-degree murder, illegal possession of stolen things and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Clad in the standard orange jumpsuit of Orleans Parish Prison inmates, Allen shook and then dropped his head as a prosecutor read aloud the details of the carjacking.

Around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday (April 22), about seven hours before the double murder, a 27-year-old Metairie woman parked her car outside a home at Painters and North Johnson streets and went inside to pick up her son. Police said she left her driver's side door unlocked and returned to her 2011 Toyota Highlander about 20 minutes later to find the car door ajar and an unknown male — later identified as Allen — in the driver's seat.

Allen produced a black handgun, police said, and grabbed the woman's arm while snatching her car keys out of her hand. He then told the woman to "shut my door, b----," court records show.

What’s missing here? Charges for everything but the two murder victims?

What were they, potted plants?

From the article

Allen was booked with two counts of first-degree murder, JPSO said, while Degruy faces two counts of accessory to first-degree murder and burglary of a vehicle.

I am only allowed to post the first 300 words of the article.

The murder charges are filed in the court of jurisdiction. A hold is then placed on the suspect where he is being held on the car jacking, flight, etc.

After those charges are adjudicated, he will then be sent to the court that placed the hold for trial.

Typically, charges of murder are no bond or bail.

Strangely enough, the words “Hate Crime” do not seem to appear in this account by journalism professionals. Puzzling.

Those charges are in Jefferson Parish, these new ones are either in Orleans Parish or in Federal court (attempted murder of a U.S. Marshal). Sounds like this dirtbag hit the trifecta.
