Time reporter Zeke Miller was at a Teaism cafe near the White House Wednesday around noon when President Barack Obama came in for a surprise visit.
Miller started broadcasting Obama’s visit on Periscope with his smartphone.
A peeved Obama ordered Miller to stop filming–and Miller obeyed.

The other half— the more important half— of the story is that then the White House posted their own (edited) video of the lunch event. So not only is this guy a lapdog for stopping filming, but he actually facilitated the White House’s efforts at media/message control. He should be unemployed today, but that would require an old-fashioned editor who started drinking about 9 am in the morning to deal with all the people his reporters were pissing off during the course of the day.
Old Zeke rolled over but nobody scratched his belly. Poor doggy.

I looked up the "Periscope" smartphone app. It allows you to broadcast video in real time on twitter. This looks like JUST THE APP for people to have on their phones, in case they come across misbehaving public employees.
In case they try to confiscate your phone to suppress being recorded, you can just tell them, "Sorry, this video is already currently being sent out LIVE on twitter, including your attempt to violate my rights. SMILE m----f---er!"

Look on the bright side. The reporter was not arrested for filming the President without advance permission.
