Coeur d'Alene Police officer shot in line of duty. COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Coeur d'Alene Police Sergeant Greg Moore has died just before 6 p.m. after being shot in the line of duty early Tuesday morning. The shooting occurred at approximately 1:35am Tuesday in the 2800 block of Wilbur Ave. Sergeant Moore who was a 16-year veteran with the department.
Police say Moore was in the Sunshine Meadows neighborhood checking on a suspicious person and actually ran suspect Jonathan Renfro's name through the Kootenai County Dispatch Center.
"Then there was no further contact from him," Lt. Stu Miller said at a press conference Tuesday morning.
A neighbor told police they heard a single gunshot, saw Moore on the ground and called 911.
Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White said it does not appear that Moore was shot with his own gun.
Sgt. Moore was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Beautiful as it is, since moving to the Pacific Northwest 18 years ago, I have always heard that Coeur d’Alene had plenty of people you would want nothing to do with. I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s certainly got that reputation for meth and heroin and just quite a bit of unpleasantness. I’ve always wondered if it’s true. I know that Oklahoma and Arkansas and Texas and Louisiana where I grew up in the 70s and 80s had long histories of hardcore old school underground biker gang types pushing meth back to the 1960s or before. I used to drive around rural areas just to see what was out there, and more than once had someone come out with a shotgun to meet me on a public dirt road to tell me this wasn’t a good place for tourism. I like to avoid that kind of thing as much as possible, regardless of who it’s coming from.

The line you are posting was about the events. he was taking to the hospital...he later died. I think they typed the wrong word “remains” should have been “remained” in critical condition
