Put a woman on a $20 and watch them fly out of your pocket.
You want a new image on your money? The name says it all. Now THAT would make for a cool $20 bill.
I already am, but for a whole host of other reasons...
If you can't easily tell a dollar coin from a 25¢ coin by feel alone it won't be accepted.
If they made a dollar coin the size of the old silver dollar coin and just pulled the paper dollars out of circulation people would accept it.
But the biggest impediment to replacing the paper dollar with a $1 coin is the vending machine industry. Millions and millions of vending machines would have to be modified or replaced so they could accept a $1 coin.
You meant Feminist IDIOTS.
Who do not represent me or any women I respect and love.
NO!!
travon on the five?
Oppose it, and you are a racist who supports slavery. They’re getting pretty tedious these days.
next thing you know Grant will be History ...
“citizens just dont want it.”
If citizens were made aware of how filthy and germ/virus ridded singles were, they’d use the coins. I keep getting singles that have been disinfected, and make my wallet smell like cheap perfume. The metal in the coins is a natural germ killer. The coins can be recycled. Singles get shredded and are sent to a landfill. A huge, and dumb, waste of money printing them over and over. The coins last for decades at least! We need to stop spending money on everything we possibly can!
Harriet was a criminal
She deserves nothing
Andrew Jackson was for "easy money" and opposed the National Bank, using an early application of executive power to kill it. He was one of our better presidents -- whatever his failings -- and the last president before Lincoln to be elected to a second term.
Harriet Tubman had nothing to do with banking, or with elected office; if this were the 1960s, this idea of her on the $20 would be condemned as racist, because that's what, uh, a good time used to cost back then. I've heard. Franklin's a non-president, but we can't put Tubman on the $100, see the $20 anecdote above. The other non-presidential bill is the $10, and while there is an incoherent inchoate animus directed at Hamilton by some, he was the kid genius of the Framers, and belongs on a bill. Screw ya if you don't like it. The only person I've ever seen actually recoil from a $10 purported to be a descendant of the murderer Aaron Burr. Turns out there's a community of sorts out there who claim to be descended from a number of purported illegitimate children of Burr.
Instead of putting Tubman on the $20, she should be put on the quarter -- George is already on the $1, and no one in their right mind wants any more freakin' $1 coins.
Hear hear!!
FMCDH(BITS)
This will work out well. It will free up Andrew Jackson to be printed on the “Free Republic $20 bill”, which will soon enough have far more value than the national currency.
I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves. - Harriet Tubman
Feminist = Extreme PMS
I think I’ll move in under your porch.
I don’t know. I just decided to say that.
Terrible idea. Jackson was one of our greatest Presidents. What’s next? The removal of Washington from the $1 bill?
Great post. It is good to see that someone here actually recognizes the accomplishments of Jackson. He was like having Dirty Harry as President and his Jacksonian Democracy is a primary reason we are as large a country as we are today. James K. Polk idolized Jackson and following Jackson’s policies, he was able to gain the American SW and Pacific NW for the USA.
