They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods,' Chief Deputy Don Bass said according to The Clarion-Ledger.
He said the men then planned on dumping the body after killing him.
When asked if the incident might have something to do with recent gangs stating they would attack any police officers they encountered on sight, Bass said: 'At this point in time I don't care.'
Regardless of their motivation, the men were quickly foiled when Frazier managed to unlock the back doors of his squad car using a pop mechanism that he activated on his key chain.
That sent Lucas, Frazier's police dog, running after his owner and the men.
The dog bit at least one of the attackers before they ran off, jumping into the Town Car Frazier first stopped to inspect and speeding away from the scene.
Frazier suffered a two-and-a-half-inch cut to his forehead from what a doctor believes was a box cutter and multiple other bodily injuries.
He was taken to a local hospital and released.

Good dog!
When dogs are heroes. Beautiful dog. Three cheers for Frazier. Give that dog a treat!
"sig em Lucas"....(and they probably couldn't see him coming)
muslims or dreamers?
Let me guess, they were Amish. Right?
I think a Large Juicy Steak - medium rear would be much better =)
Deputy Todd Frazier of Long Beach, Mississippi, pulled over last Monday night to check on a car with the driver passed out in the front seat
He was quickly ambushed by the driver and two other men who dragged him in the woods to ‘slit his throat’
He was able to unlock the backdoor of his squad car from his key chain and release K-9 Lucas, who bit at least one man and scared attackers off
The men, who drove off in a Town Car, are still at large
Frazier suffered multiple bodily injuries and a two-and-a-half-inch cut to his forehead from what a doctor believes was a box cutter
No description of the perps. Must indeed be Amish!
Aw, good dog!
Am I the only one who thinks this story sounds hinky?
kinda does
Read about it the other day. I know the area where this happened(?) and it sure seems like a set up to me. Did the cop PO someone who decided to seek revenge? The area is pretty desolate between Slidell, LA and Waveland, MS on old Hwy 90. Not much out there other than Pearlington, MS which isn’t much.
Pity, he didn’t have three dogs.
Interesting. Just curious as to whether any video, or witnesses exist. I notice extremely sparse details about the suspects. And no shots fired at them as they fled.
Dragging into the woods, to cut his throat. A hero wound on the forehead. That’s a very unusual way to attack a cop.
Just something odd here. And im not one of our resident cop haters.
But this calls to mind a few times cops have faked a dramatic battle. I remember one in New Mexico a couple of years ago, State Police cop shot his own car and then pretended he was in a furious gun battle. At this point I will say good dog, and im remaining open minded.
Yeah.
I think it sounds hinky.
SOOBs? (sons of obama)
Woof Woof
No sir, you aren’t. Calls to mind a lot of hoaxes. Carjacker drowning Susan Smith’s boys, a “small foreign faction” in Boulder, “Dreams From my Father”,,, etc...
As I said, im feeling very open minded here.
Bass later conceded the incident may have to do with gangs in the area.'We've been stressing this for months and months now. It's no different from last week. We get a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) from the state alerting us that the Black Gangster Disciples have put out an SOS, or Shoot on Sight, for police officers,' he said.
