We have made it to where our Navy (or Air Force) can't incur any loses without it severely damaging us.
I read this entire article a few days ago. I commented about my concern of the vulnerability of aircraft carriers. But those with far more knowledge than me told me they were quite capable and well protected. I can’t imagine the United States is sitting back and not on the cutting edge of all kinds of military technology
I’m finding it very interesting that so much effort is being put out to deride Naval Airpower and Aircraft Carriers.
It makes me suspicious to say the least.
Later
It'd be more credible if it got basic information, like units of speed, correct.
2nd article in as many days or so, essentially claiming the same thing...
It’s a tad curious...

The real basis of this essay is that the welfare state needs the military’s budget.
There are a few other (good) points thrown in.
WRONG. On both points. At the Battle of Taranto, in November of 1940, the British sunk an Italian battleship and damaged two more - from the air with slow Swordfish biplanes.
as i was reading i wondered are submarines protected from EMP? does anyone know. Could EMP wipe out a task force?
Right now the strike group has all three.
Hitting Beijing from the sea is something to think about, right Sun Tzu?
5.56mm
Whatever became of the “if it flies, it dies” slogan used by the Navy?
Active Duty ping.
We could learn a lot from history.

Coastal anti-ship batteries, submarines and air superiority can cause area denial to a carrier battle group. During hostilities, some places are just too dangerous to take such a valuable asset.
This infographic gives me pause. The Chinese seem to be banking on some very dangerous strategies.

Interesting article. I think we are going to see an age of small drone carriers that will come along in another five years. The drones are being developed now. We will see the fifth generation fighter in a secondary role once we see that drone technology fully launched.
We need them to protect the really important ships
Lots of good info. Things are changing very fast. R and D is working the laser angle....check out the USS Ponce. Mach 5 missiles may seem fast now but when compared to lasers they are standing still.
