D-Day June 6, 1944: How did Hitler react?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | June 6, 2015 | By Peter Grier, Staff writer

June 6 will forever be the anniversary of one of the most fateful days in modern history: the Allied D-Day invasion of Normandy. By day’s end American, British, and Canadian troops had breached Germany’s Atlantic Wall defenses and established a foothold in Western Europe. With Soviet armies rolling in from the east Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime was caught in a gigantic vise. Its defeat was now only a matter of time.

Considering the pivotal nature of June 6, 1944, how did Hitler react to the attack? Did he rant, did he rail? Did he move with focused calm to try and repel the invaders?

He did none of those things, at first. For D-Day’s opening act, Hitler slept.

Hitler was more intelligent than the present “leader.”

"For D-Day’s opening act, Hitler slept."

Legend has it that George III's diary entry for July 4, 1776 was, "Nothing important happened today."

Most historians of the British monarchy agree that George didn't keep a diary, and that the myth is based on Louis XVI's diary entry from the original Bastille Day, in which Louis returned from a hunting trip and made a single word entry, "Nothing."

And Hitler did not intentionally destroy his own nation. Obama is.

Agreed. I don’t think that the clown in the white house thinks he is destroying “his nation.” However, he is knowingly destroying “Our Nation.”

you read my mind!.....but with Benghazi....Obama needed a reason NOT to reverse the early stand-down order...by him and Hillery not being there everyone else hands were tied....

My theory is....(one that has been floated already but actually seems to make the most sense of what we do know, intentional draw down of security...secret meeting on Sept 11 or all times ETC.) is it was a planned kidnapping of Amb. Stevens who was to be “traded” for the blind shiek or 5 GITMO terrorists just before the election.....when the abductors felt double crossed because Smith, Woods, Doherty and others disobeyed the stand down order and put up a fight they killed the Ambassador....But Obama now had a bigger problem...he still owed his part of the deal.....Enter...Bergdahl.... Lots of simple questions to be asked...but nobody asks them...WHY??

And Hitler did not intentionally destroy his own nation.

He did destroy his own nation. He led it into a war which turned into a disaster and kept at it until his nation was in utter ruin. Towards the end he ordered that all significant economic and transportation facilities be destroyed as the German nation had lost, they were therefore the weaker nation and did not deserve to have anything but slavery.

It should be noted that Henry Morgenthau, Treasury Secretary, had a plan to de-industrialize Germany completely, thereby turning Germany into an agrarian state so they would never threaten their neighbors again. Different purposes, but the effect would have been the same.

Later on June 6, Hitler attended a reception near Salzburg for the new Austrian foreign minister.

Why would there be an Austrian foreign minister? Austria ceased to exist as an independent country in 1938.
