NEW YORK (Reuters) - Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton promised on Saturday to fight for ordinary Americans who have been left behind as the economy recovers, appealing to working families at the first major rally of her 2016 White House campaign.
Speaking on New York's Roosevelt Island, within sight of Manhattan's skyscrapers, Clinton promised would "make the economy work for everyday Americans, not just those at the top" if elected president.
The gathering of several thousand people cheered as Clinton said working people are asking why wealth is reserved for chief executives and hedge fund managers.
"You have to wonder, when does my hard work pay off? When does my family get ahead? When? I say now," she said.

She named President Barack Obama and former Democratic presidents Bill Clinton, her husband, and Franklin D. Roosevelt as examples of the kind of leader she admires.
Hillary if this is such a pressing issue, what has Obama been doing about it for six plus years? He’s a good Democrat and you are a good Democrat. Aren’t you criticizing your own party’s president for not dealing with these critical matters all these years???
Working families are becoming a minority. Hence, they are a new special interest group for Dems to appeal to.
As Mark Steyn said, when Democrats talk about “working families”, they usually mean those who don’t work at all. This is a change, but in name only.

Everything she said, promised, complained about was the same stuff politicians have been saying, promising, complaining about for the last century.
Half of what she complained against could be directed at Obama’s failures, but that isn’t what the media or the Libs heard.
Clinton gave nothing more than the same ole litany of Liberalism.
Most of her promises were of the ‘something for nothing’ category — as if she could out-give Santa Obama.
